Ladies and gentlemen. After months of mulling over the decision, I finally ordered a 110 from the Custom Shoppe. Brass bolsters, cherrywood handle, and a lovely S30V blade will be on my hip in a tan leather sheath.

What can I expect, folks?

Also, a second question....are there any functional differences between Buck's cherrywood (how do they make it, anyway?) and their Dymondwood?

I'll post pics once the knife arrives.

if you got it w.o rivets, the cherrywood will be epoxied on. No functional difference... purely cosmetic

Sounds like a winner! May I ask what the cost was? And please do post pix when it arrives - we would love to see it!

that is what i would have done, now go to triplerknives , send leroy an email, and ask him to make you a custom blade, maybe a saw blade or file blade, then you can change and they look neat. great buy. ps God grows the trees.

I just got my first custom buck 110 this week, compared to a standard 110 I got last year, it's like night and day. The fit and finish is perfect on the custom shop one, it's ridiculously sharp, more so out of the box than any knife I've ever purchased, the centering is perfect, grind etc, no sharp corners/edges, smooth open and close. Basically if you could take a regular 110 and make it perfect, that's what you get from the custom shop.

I got it in 420 hc, indigo royal wood, and silver bolsters.

Dymondwood is Rutland Plywood Corporation's trade name for it's resin impregnated laminated hardwood products, usually Birch. All laminated wood handle materials used by Buck are Dymondwood. Buck uses the terms Rosewood, Cherrywood, Cocobola etc for different dye colors of Dymondwood.

Wonderful. That's better than I could have hoped for! Thank you. :)

Congrats on your knife. I could find only the black buffalo and the cherrywood for the handle options. Where can I select other handle options?

Yeah, I'm stoked about it! How long do you think it will take to show up at my door?

My only custom 110 is polished blade, nickel silver, Asian Water Buffalo with rivets and finger grooves.

Edbeau, how long from order to delivery did it take for that beautiful custom? What do you think of your new 110?

It was a gift so I don't know how long it took. It is by far the best knife I own.
