My friend just graduated college and wanted to buy a knife that "doesn't get dull fast." His words, not mine. He knows I'm into knives (and guns but that's another story) so he asked me for a great knife under 35 bucks. Initially, I convinced him to get a Buck Vantage Select with Buck's widely regarded 420HC. After much more talk, he asked me about different steels. In the end, he was convinced to get the Vantage Pro in s30v. Was a great feeling.

Anyone else have success stories?

EDIT: I think he got a steel (pun intended) on it too. The large Vantage Pro set him back like 50 and some change shipped.
