So, if a man wanted to buy a pm2 sprint run....

I would be interested in picking up a pm2 in a different steel. I don't care whether its a sprint run or a dealer exclusive or whatever. Not interested in collectibility, just would like a user in a different steel. So how do you find out what's coming and get in line? I'm not willing to pay $200 + in the after market...I'm willing to be patient. But I don't know how to find out who's coming out with what, nor do I know how to go about reserving something. Anybody?

Also, probably what I'd rather have than the pm2 is a military 2 (Millie 1 doesn't work for me, I need tip up). Does anyone have any idea when that might be coming out? I imagine when it does come out it would initially just be a regular s30v model and I'd have to wait even longer for different steel in a Millie 2...yeah, I'm patient, but I don't think I'm THAT patient. :)

and browse Spyderco's official forums occasionally.

^^^ This. Just check the forums once per week; if anything new is announced you should learn of it several weeks (at least) before it hits the market. Being able to reserve something is a different story: seems like fewer dealers are offering pre-orders due to issues with sprints/exclusives in the past. AFAIK, Knifecenter is the only dealer offering reserves months in advance, but they have a reputation for over-selling their allocation.

not really useful, hasn't been updated in years.

That makes part sense, not completely useless. Sal wrote only a day or 2 ago that from the time a knife is announced (to be read as appears in that link) it can take upto 18 months for production to begin. Your're dealing with 1.5 years from announcement to fruition. Using that logic, it's right on schedule. Te only one I don't see was the blue Military and the Moonglow Native5.

Yeah, the only way to really know what sprints are coming and how to get one is to be vigilant with the message boards. The Spyderco sub-forum here is pretty good but the most up-to-date is the official Spyderco forums (HERE).

I've been there for some time and it's a great community. It's also easy to register.

I say if you can find a CTS 204P, step up and buy it. The steel is a step up in a user knife. It really holds an edge well. Sharpens easily.
