...and I'm pondering how to celebrate.

Honestly kinda Kukri'd out. Auntie set me up with a 16.5 CAK (Lachu), acquired a 18" WWII (Murali), then a 10" Pacthar (Lachu), and finally an 18.5" Samsher (Thamar.)

So I think I've got most of my bases covered.

Would I like to handle a BAS/Siru/Chit? Sure. But I feel like I'm pretty much set, maybe with the exception of a Gunga. (Damn Larry Correia)

So what do you guys think/how did you handle your 30th? Guess I'm pretty much set on a GRS, but if you guys have some input, I'd like to brainstorm. Is Cantina, yes? Much shenanigans. Many happy thoughts to be had.

Quest, I hate to tell you this, and don't go denying it, but you suffer from HIKV. There is NO curing of it once contacted. Just by you simply asking the sharks "What do you think", lets everyone of us know that you've been bitten by the bug. So fess up, do yourself a favor, and get you a nice little M43 or a curved spine, maybe a couple of Katunjes. You'll thank yourself in the morning,

If you're HIKV is in remission, then get yourself an HI sword.

I think the HIKV thing is pretty silly, being honest, (and no offense.) ^_^

I kind of view it as footwear. Boots, running shoes, church shoes, casual dressy, etc. They all have their purpose. I'm sure an HI sword would be neat, but I can't think of it excelling at any other task than current blades. And it'd have to fight the Terror Monkey for the "Tacti-cool King" slot. ^_^

Hence the Gunga/BG. I can see it slotting in between the CAK/Samsher, or filling the category above.

Bookie, I'm sure you're right, and I'm just in denial. This is just a futile defense of my bank account. ^_^

If it's possible to describe, is there a huge gap between the 43 and the Samsher? The styles are similar, but by this point I realize the potential gaps between them.

As for the Katunjes, still a possibility. The Pachthar I picked up didn't have a lot of data on here. Love it, looks like a baby Samsher. Realize it's a newer offering, so if you guys have any suggestions on what to put it through, or just pic requests, I'd be happy to comply.

E: And if you have any data on "curved spine," I think I know what you're referring to, but examples would be welcome.

One of these days i'll break free and play around with my gorgeous ladies in the woods.

Use it in the kitchen!

Of course, I might be ahead of myself, assuming the kamis are currently producing Gangas/BGRS's, short of putting in a request.

Man, all you old pockers. :p

Do chits count as swords?

I haven't eliminated them from dealing with school foliage, but at some point I think I'm reenlisting in the infantry

Tablet is goofing. Meant sc. Any who, practicality vs optimism. Sure a chit would be best for opening mres and the throats of the undead.

Well I dunno what else to tell you that these fine gents haven't covered. Obviously any HI collection is never "complete," but it REALLY isn't complete without a sword. I recommend a Tibetan Long or Short Sword. Plenty of power to trim bushes and trees, with the finesse to parry a strike from a bear or mountain lion, and maybe even fillet a large fish or shark :b

But then again, if you really need something you can justify as "practical," then I wholeheartedly agree with Bookie, and recommend an M-43. I recently picked up my first (17", 27oz by Lachhu), probably a month or 2 ago, and it has quickly become my top user, riding in the car with me and my Keshar Lal, which you also need to grab one of. Don't worry, those are cheap.

PS, I wouldn't consider a Chitlangi a sword, even if it were a 25" version. To me it's still technically a style of khukuri, but others may see differently.

PPS, I ain't old, still got 2 years before I hit a quarter-century :)

PPPS, Happy Early Birthday!

Falcata;)
I didn't get mine until 34, but I had been chasing it for over a decade before that.

Bit too much liquid anesthetic last night, the only reason I could consider cutting my H.I. tour short. A turrble offense indeed.

Everyone, avoid taking a paper wasp in the face. Getting stung in general, sure, but the face especially.

POCKERS???? Man, I thought that word started with an F! I MUST be gettin' old! The HI curved spine is my Saturday Evening dress up blade. My Katunje is my primo blade for small work. The M-43 is the blade that would be my "If I can only have but one khuk".First up., my Katunje, "Yangdu". This is her model of khuk.

[/IMG] UB for Uncle Bill is on all blades made after his passing. This says Yangdu since it is her model at my request.

Next is my M43. Versatile to say the least.
