I started out with a $40 CRKT M16-10KZ.

Just got a KA-BAR Next Generation 440A Stainless Steel.

Now I'm aiming for a 3-5 inch folder. (if 5 inch folders even exist)

I'm saving up but my budget is $200 most.

My parents get mad I'm buying 'knives' when I don't always use them, but yet, I find them pretty useful. :D

So, suggest me a quality EDC / Folder Please. ;)

some people might disagree, but I'd say either buy a $100 folder, or save up another $150 and go with a higher end production knife. the zt series of knives is probably your best bet at 200$ if you want something very tough, but in terms of quality I don't think you'll see a huge difference between a $100 knife and a $200 knife.

my general recommendation for a $100 knife is the spyderco military (if you're a righty and like tipdown carry), otherwise the endura 4 g-10. i suppose if you really wanted to spend $200 the titanium military might be a good choice

The Benchmade 940 is a good edc knife.

I think the best move would be to try the staple knives from the largest and most popular production companies. If I were you, I would aim for the following, in the following order:

Spyderco Delica/Endura/Para mil/Military depending on size and lock preference
Benchmade griptilian/710 on budget or if you figure out what size knives you like
Kershaw blur/leek/shallot
Rat Izula

By the end of that, you should know what kind of opening mechanism, lock, finish, blade length, handle material, AO vs. manual, light vs. heavy, tip up vs. tip down, etc. all figured out. Be careful out there, knife collecting is a slippery slippery slope.

I would save some of your money and pick up either a benchmade griptillian (got mine for 85 dollars at rei, but you can find a cheaper one online) or a spyderco endura (around $50 dollars).

-zt0200, absolutely amazing knife for the money, maybe a bit big for edc if you don't live out in the country
-spyderco military, a light, solid, beast of a knife
-bm griptilian, great edc, feels real good in hand, axis lock is awesome, handle maybe a bit thick for in the pocket, some say handle feels cheap, I like it though
-bm ritter grip, same as normal griptilian but different blade shape, better slicer, better steel
-bm 943, I prefer this blade shape to the 940
-bradley alias, $275, a bit out of your mentioned budget, but apparently really worth it, not held it myself but it's on my wanted list, called a poor man's sebenza
-burger lexk, not held it either but saw a review a few days back, looks like the perfect edc knife, $265 though

i second the sage 2... it is one sweet TI framelock with s30v. I got mine for $162 and it was worth every penny. Warning, it may cause you to spend unnecessary amounts of money on other TI framelocks
