So is the Sebenza really worth it?

Sorry, I couldn't resist :D I have owned a few over the years, but the Insingo blade shape really caught my eye when I first saw it a while back. So after some trading and selling I was finally able to score a very slightly used one. It's the small version and will be a great edc and hiking knife. It also gives me something to play with when I should be working!

Glad the title is a joke... Nice score, I plan on getting a LG seb next but I have been debating between a small Insignio and an Ohta wharncliffe custom slip-joint after that.

I haven't seen one of those threads pop up in a while, I kind of miss them :p I'm also glad that this one is S35VN, I have been wanting to check out the difference and it definitely more shiny and polished than the S30V ones I've had.

I think you're probably better off with a Serenmu for the money. :D

Good to see another '99er around here.

That's the main thing that drew me to it. It seems like it will be great for carving, and it very light and unobtrusive in the pocket. I have tons of great fixed blades for the woods, but I have been on a very long quest for folder to match. And I think I've tried just about all of them!
tknife, I'd like to see what you think of the blade shape for bushcrafty type stuff.

Well one thing's for sure, from the perspective of a fellow bushcrafter, you're not going to find a folder that's easier to break down and clean pine sap out of! My small Seb did all the fine carving at Tracker School's Standard Class back in '07 (yes opinion's vary, but I loved it!).

Just to raise you one, I think you'll find the large Insingo will do most everything a 4"-and-smaller fixed blade will do.

Now don't go and say that! Dang I knew I'd find more bad influences in here!

I don't get enough use out of my Sebenzas and Umnumzaan, and I'd like to get large and small micarta Insingos. It is truly a sickness.

I have already been looking lustingly at the micarta Insingo, I need to stop! I need to save my money for the knife show next weekend.

Go for it. You won't regret it. You can always sell it for a very minimal loss if, for whatever reason, it's not what you want.

You know you want to.

You could singlehandedly bring the worlds of bushcraft and CRK folders together. It would be epic. I tried, but no one listens to me anyway.

I'm gonna have one eventually. I've not tried an Insingo, or micarta inlays. Two birds with one stone, right?

:)

A new subforum, clique or a strictly hush hush underground club maybe? Insingo Bushcrafters Unlimited?! We can make it happen!

I'll do it if you do it. I ain't skeered.

Well, maybe just a little. But just of what'll happen if the wife finds out.

The Insingos are very nice, I love the blade shape. You can tell a lot of thought went into it. My large Insingo will definitely see some time in the woods this summer.

I believe they are worth it if your willing to pay that extra $$ for perfection...!!!

The title got me going, as the link was opening I was searching for all those similar threads. Congrats on the fine knife!

Well, you got me with the title. So just for that....

The Large Micarta Insingo is one of my favorites. Let me to sell my Umnumzaan.

That thing is sweet. I will have to start saving my pennies for a Micarta one now!
