This morning a few of us were talking about knives after someone asked to see another person's knife. The person who showed me his SOG seal pup yesterday asked what I had today. I pulled my Buck 110 out and handed it to him. Before I could tell him to be careful, he was already bleeding.
I guess my sharpening has come a long way since I got into knives this summer. I'm not sure if I should be proud of myself for having such a sharp knife or sad I was dumb enough to hand a knife to someone who would cut himself with it.

Be proud! If they’re older than 7 they should know to touch the edge at their own risk. Soon enough you won’t have to worry because your friends will be afraid to touch your edges.

Be proud of your skills, I always warn people now If I loan them one of my knives. A friend of mine cut his thumb pretty bad once with a hawk bill I had. He was use to dull knives.

If I was handed a knife and was fool enough to go ahead and cut myself, I'd congratulate the fella that handed it to me for honing that bad boy so well. Good on ya.

I always wondered why non knife knuts will rub their thumb across a blade.......AFTER you tell them it is vicious sharp???
Then they are pissed at you for having a sharp blade.
Weird.....but absolutely hysterical!!
:D
After they heal up a bit, they’ll most likely ask you to sharpen a couple of their knives!

Oops! Because he accidentally slipped up whilst opening the blade?
Or he had to run his digits along the edge to see just how sharp it was?
Greatwork with the sharpening I guess.
But Best to verbally warn and disclaim liability
Well before Handing out any of your knives to others.

Accidents can and do happen. But I work with a few people i wouldn't had a knife to because i suspect they are also the kind of people that would repeatedly burn themselves on a hot stove...

Nice job on the edge!

Yup, been there a few times. I don't let people use my knives if I can help it but if I hand a knife to someone just to admire I always warn them that sharpening is sort of a hobby of mine so they should watch out. Also, i usually carry a bandaid in my wallet. Always have. It doesn't take up much space and comes in handy once in a while.

One time I had a knife that I had done the final sharpening on a buffing wheel and then stropped. It was as sharp as I’d ever gotten a knife. One of my friends overheard me say that it was sharp enough to shave with, so he took it literally and started to shave with it up until it cleanly sliced off the outer layer of skin off his cheek..

Now he doesn’t borrow my knives because he thinks they’re too sharp.
