I said so in another thread, but damn if the Izula isn't ESEE's gateway drug/knife. Just got this one today, and I already have another Izula and a -3 on order.

Got the knife and the paracord from Derrick & Wendy @ Knivesshipfree and couldn't be happier with the product or the service. Thanks y'all!

The wrap is a little over the top, but I was going for anti-tactical as this one will see use at work/in public, and my Original Manix scares some folks. (actually had a guy comment the other day: "Whoa! That knife just teleported into you hand & opened itself on the way!!!!)

So, what's the verdict guys? Can I play too? :D

nice wrap! and yes it is a gateway knife

Thanks Matt. It's my first shot at a cord wrap, too. I'm glad I followed the wisdom of some of my forum predecessors and taped the blade before wrapping. Lil bugger jumped outta the sheath and tried to bite me while I was pulling everything tight. NO! you sharp little S.O.B. you already got your blood sacrifice outta me! (nicked the meat of my palm goofing off with the "pinkie ring" earlier. :P It's officially mine now, but it has a taste for blood! :O

I actually started with the 4 then got an izula. I really like it but probably would carry the folding version of it more when it comes out

You must be right. I started with the Izula and now have the RC-3 and the DPX. They're a bit more bulky than a wrap job, but I bought the handle slabs for the Izula and like them quite a bit.

yes they are a gateway m before mine got here i had to go out and get another new rat to keep me busy as i dont like waiting !!!

Wow! Serious direction change in this thread!

Where'd THAT Izula come from?! I'll take three... no, four!:D

Awwww...picture's gone!
I KNEW I should have quoted. :D

you aint kidding man, a very serious change in direction.....

Back on topic that is a great wrap job, and I think it will work great as a people friendly knife. I do have to ask tho what are the other two lanyards tied to the sheath for? I am assuming it has something to do with your carry method, unless I'm wrong and it's just to make it look less tacticool. So how have you taken to carrying it?

The RTAK caught my eye initially, but I never followed through. Later I was looking at the Becker Necker when I saw the Izula. I bought the Izula and with the current and proposed line of products, my daughter will be putting herself through college.

Yeah, Wander. The Lanyards were just some leftover cord after the wrap. But they're there to give me options for carry. I can put the orange Monkey Fist through the knife for ease of access if I carry it in a pocket, the blue wrap works for horizontal belt carry, etc.

But I stuck 'em on there just for grins, rather than throw away the excess cord. heh.

Yeah, the Izula is just beginning for most people including myself. After I bought my Izula I quickly started racking up more ESEE's one by one until I had the whole collection. There really is a "sickness" you get infected with once you get your first one.

Is it a pink Izula? Then you have gone anti-tactical as possible...though pink paracord might be possible.^^ Nonetheless great job you did there and I'm so thankful I started with a RC-3!

But it's called tactical pink! :p

Yep. The "Tactical" pink would clash with my anti-tactical motif. lol.

It's actually the desert tan Izula. It's OD brother will be mine as soon as Knifecenter gets 'em back in stock (along with an RC-3 big brother.) Then I'll probably decide I have to complete the set with black and pink. Then an RC-4, -6, H.E.S.T., -5... Crap! I think I'm hooked! :P

The reverse side isn't as great. I'm not satisfied with the way I finished it, but I've not decided on anything better yet. I melted the square knot and flattened it a bit so it isn't uncomfortable in the hand, but I'll most likely experiment a bit with a better way to finish the wrap and change it eventually.

Thanks Matt. I was trying for something less "tactical" looking than black/OD/tan that you see most of the time, and this combo just sort of leaped to mind. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I figured with the 100' of each color I ordered, if I hated it, I could re-wrap with blue and be fine. As it turned out, I really like the combo too, so I think I'll keep it. Might even use it on a few other knives ;)
