It's sword year ! and ... i dont have a sword to bring =( I'm hoping to have one new knife finished that I can show around though, a cable damascus dagger. I'll also be bringing some stuff to tailgate. A few anvils, maybe a post vice or two, and maybe a huge post drill, but I'm not sure about the last one, might not be any interest in it =P

Does anyone have anything cool they're bringing that they want to share for those not able to make it?

Tailgating supplies, handle material, some good cigars. A few knives and some sword blades in progress.
I am thinking about bringing my togi bench for the guys to look at and get ideas.

My Viking sword is not complete either, so you will have company there.
I have a few knives that I should finish this weekend and bring up. I have a wootz blade that just needs a bit of epoxy and a buff.

A big batch of minis and some folders and autos.

I was also considering bringing up some nice jewelry. This might allow some of the guys to make Mama happy this Christmas.
I have a good bit of stuff I have made up and just set aside for sales to friends, and would gladly let go for cost to my steel bashing buddies. If anyone is looking for anything special, let me know and I'll see what I can bring for you. Send me a PM for more info.
I also have some real nice antique jewelry pieces that I restored, but the antique dealers are all so slow that I haven't really tried to sell any of it to them for several years. There are several antique ladies sword pins in the group.

Thanks! I am currently finishing the match to that one for her husband, over 50 stones per hat is a nuisance! I spent most of the day doing prep work and soldering bezels, you never realize how hot your fingers can get without actual damage until you are holding tweezers 2 inches from a rosebud tip holding a bezel in place and you get a flame splash just as the solder is starting to wet, you do not want to let go and risk having it shift out of alignment no matter how hot your skin thinks it is! (no burns just for the record)

Starting the count-down.
I spent yesterday putting things in clear plastic bins to load into the van. I may need a bigger vehicle.

I still haven't heard back from my email or phone calls to Ashokan asking about the condition of the site after all the rain and flooding. Has anyone talked to a person who physically seen the place in the last week?

Everyone I talk to up that way has dire stories of flooding and muddy roads. Good to know that the place is waiting for us. See you there.

Just heard from Tim Neu. He said there was some flooding in the area, but Ashokan is good to go.

Bummer Butch! I'll be there, with a forged sword blank, and material to do some work in the evenings!

My friend Don is coming with me again......... He runs a BBQ shop.
He is bringing up BBQ to serve Friday night while the smelt is going on. There will probably be some left for Saturday evening, too. His sauce is locally well known....Megallon's BBQ Sauce.

That sounds great Stacy, see ya all tomorrow !
