And loving spyderco kind of gets hated on sometimes. How about some spydie love? Why does spyderco rock? Im in the mood for some positivity [emoji1417]

Exemplary business ethics, transparent practices, commitment to innovation, putting function before form, consistent design language that continually evolves, some of the highest value offerings on the market today.

As we discussed in General, I'm against brand loyalty, but Spyderco makes it harder than any other brand.

They rock for the awesome value, awesome designs, top shelf materials, and of course the pocket clip originators, and a few lock inventions as well. They have a knife for every kind of user, even women and children, one of my favorite brands of all time; whoever hates Spydercos have no idea what they're talking about, in my opinion. I love Spydies!! Spyderco will go down in history as an iconic American company, I can keep going but I bet other guys will say something better than me.

I forgot to mention their Sharpmaker, one of the best sharpening systems in history.

The spydie hole is awesome. For me it feels natural. I love their full flat ground blades. The military is one of my favorite knives. Big but light. Thick stock with a thin tip. Great g10. Solid liner lock. The knife broke in really well. The pivot is smooth when opening. My Millie and endura both have nice fit and finish. Both blades were ground with good precision. It's a brand that I find myself recommending often.

Hey - Sal and his company make a fine, high-quality knife.

They are very useable, and every Spyderco that I own is a great cutter.

They are popular for a reason.

best value in a tactical folder!offering some of the best steels found on earth, continued design change, all these things are found in a spyderco, got to love the brand.

In addition to the reasons already mentioned, there are a lot of companies that are innovative...Spyderco, however, consistently manages to get it right with designs that are user friendly and highly functional in whole new ways. The Paramilitary 2 is a spectacular example of this. They make something for everyone and they make sure it's damn good.

Whenever I go to the factory they ask to see MY knives even more often than they try to sell me new ones.

Spyderco makes some wild and fancy/fantasy models, but the core idea seems to be usefulness and value. Spyderco knives work better than they look, they cost less than other knives but have higher performance, they create trends rather than follow them. The wide variety of steels is also unheralded for a production knife company and much appreciated by knife nuts. I'm by no means a Spyderco collector, or rabid fanboy, but I would defend the company to anyone talking it down.

I agree with all the observations on Spyderco's design philosophy of useful over pretty, good-feeling instead of sleek-looking.

And check out a Dragonfly Tattoo.

Thanks all. I started a threads about "brand loyalty" in the general knife section and it went kind of off the rails, haha. I think what I really wanted to do was rejoice that so many of us love certain brands. Maybe "loyalty" wasn't the right word but, in either case, I really love feeling a connection to a certain knife company. I love Spyderco!

Something for everyone.

Rich or poor, man or woman, big or small, afi or tradesman, collector or user.

Your General Knife Discussion thread is doing ok, it hasn't even been moved to Wine & Cheese yet.

For me Spyderco has been refreshing with it's breadth of product line, and quality from top to bottom.

My most recent is the GB2. Every time I heard someone praise the GB, I thought I wanted one. But for some reason, from the pics, I envisioned a larger Chaparral. I know logically it was a totally different knife, but mentally my mind saw the same scales, and I waited. It's probably my 15th Spyder or so, and totally loving how solid this thing is. Smooth, perfectly centered, rock solid, and laser sharp out of the box. Like most of my Spyders, no need to put it straight on the KME sharpener. I'm so impressed with the everything coming out of Taichung.

Ok, I get kind of sappy when in love. :o

Haha. Thanks man. Yeah it's been surprisingly civil so far, but I think my intention was a little misunderstood. I wasn't trying to say "everyone should be loyal to a brand!". Rather, I wanted to say "isn't feeling a great love or affection for a certain knife company great!?"

Yeah I'm right there with you. Always so impressed with factory sharpness and overall fit and finish. I only have one Taichung spydie, a Slysz Bowie, but really hope to get more. I've never been so impressed by a knife. [emoji1417]

Not to derail this thread, but my answer is still the same. No. ;)
