I'm new here and I've been sort of lurking around the forum trying to find my way. Hopefully im not in the wrong place for this. Anyway, I spent the better part of my day drooling over the nominees in the Best Bowie thread. Since I cant afford anything even near those
I turned to the internet to try and find something to satisfy my want. I came across a few knives on amazon, realy not expecting much, and found a few that caught my eye. My gut is telling me they are too good to be true, but my wallet and brain say "those sure are purdy". I dont know much about knives, but im not an idiot either. Im thinking maybe I het it and use it to cut my teeth in learning to take care of a supposedly high end knife. Would I be a complete moron to go for it? I'll try to make the link work, but my Google-Fu is weak.

I'm not 100% sure but I'll say that I think that may be a Pakistani knife.
In which case it's not worth $100.

On the other hand, are you wanting this knife to use or to have as a pretty collection piece?

It would be a knife that I use, even if it was just a show peice, i would want to carry ot occasionally. I think Im in sort of a Crocodile Dundee phase at the moment.

Terrible knife and ridiculous at that price. I've seen the knife they're knocking off go for about that price here.

^^ What eyes said.

The only guy that actually used his and reviewed it gave it a one because he had to have it sharpened, then it wasn't working for regular knife duties, and then it rusted to hell and back.
And you can get a nice custom fixed blade here on the forums for not much more and it will look pretty and be useful.

Well, heck!! Im glad I came to you folks before I went and did that. I may just get one of the bigger Beckers to scratch that itch. They seem pretty easy to make 'yours' anyway. Thank you all for saving me!!I
The only reason I say Becker is because I've got an Amazon gift card thats burning a hole in my pocket.

Becker is a great option. ESEE is the next step up, and then you get to the really expensive ones like Bussekin. I love my ESEE, but I will admit that the Beckers are better values. All three brands are very well liked on these forums at their respective price points, and aren't considered to be at odds with each other.
