So long to my first BF purchased knife

It was a google search for John Lloyd knives that brought me here back in January. I joined the forum to purchase a beautiful rosewood shadow that Sonnemann had for sale, and it became my 50th birthday present from my wife and son.

As lovely as it is, it is a bit larger than I prefer to carry, and maybe just a bit too beautiful for me to give it the hard use it was probably made to endure. I listed it for sale once and only received one low ball offer. A forum member contacted me privately and said to hold out, don't sell it for less than it is worth. I followed his advice.

He later told me he wished he had the funds to buy it himself. I told him if he ever got the money together it was his.

His check arrived in today's mail, so off goes the Lloyd to someone who will use it as it should be used.

I really do like this knife, but probably more than the knife, I am thankful for it being the instrument that introduced me to this community. Thanks again Steve for selling it to me back in January. You have done me a great service on multiple levels!

Congrats on getting here Doug, it's great to have you.
Thats a beautiful knife and one I almost bought back when you had it for sale, I really did love it.

Whoever is getting it is a lucky guy and congrats to him, I hope he uses it well.

I have met so many great guys thanks to the giveaways and the sale section. I'm getting to know more and more people and I can count many of them as friends.

That knife has some beautiful burl wood. It had my finger itching too. I'm happy for whoever got it.

I've got three or four of John's knives now. That one is fantastic. I'm glad to hear its going to a good home and I might just save that picture for "got any more of these?" purposes.

That's too bad you couldn't get yourself to use it. I know John Lloyd's concept is affordable knives for people to actually use. I use all of Mr. Lloyd's creations and they hold up very well.

Thanks, it is beautiful.

I find myself in a very odd position. I once had two rosewood knives, one cocobolo, and one ebony. They have all gone on to others who will use and appreciate them more than me. The oddity is I really like wood handled knives, and the only one I currently have is this propwood Schrade Walden:

I think one of my next acquisitions needs to be a well used knife in ebony.
