Something thin and lightweight but "tactical" looking. Came out of the blue but we were wondering around Cabela's Xmas shopping and she saw the knives and went crazy haha. She liked the SOG SlimJim and Twitch, the blacked out ones. She's been carrying a CRKT Heiho I gave her last year, but I think its time for an upgrade and just wanted some opinions since I've never cared for SOGs at all. Trying to stay right around $100-150ish. She's an art major so she uses her knife daily sharpening pencils, cutting different media, opening containers, etc. so I'd like something that'll hold an edge fairly well. She really stressed the thin and light aspect, the matte black blade, and she likes that her Heiho is assisted. Thanks!

How bout a black on black Benchmade 943? A bit over your budget at roughly $190 but it's a great knife that meets all your criteria. You could also look into the BM 530 or better yet the 531 if they make one with a black blade. The steel's not as good as the 94x knives, but still respectable and much cheaper. And super thin and light.

When I was married, I got my wife pink Mini-Grip, BM530, and a Spyderco/Hossom Forrester.

Benchmade 530/531. Light and slim and in my experience good for the uses you mentioned. It is right in your price point.

i bought an sog twitch and it had lots of blade play and stopped working correctly. ive had lots of issues with sog's unfortunately.

i would recommend the blackout version of the spydero delica/endura, they are durable, reliable knives that are easy to open and close and great for every day carry.

the blackout benchmade mini onslaught is a very nice knife too, that is a nice size and is easy to carry and easy to open and close.

Native 5 in black frn? Or any of the frn spydercos...

My wife recenty stole my bronze colored CRKT Ripple with 440 Acuto blade. She said it was the first knife she has seen that she had to have. CRKT has a standard Ripple at about half the price that is just as well made.

My wife has the no pockets (or very tiny) problem. She took one of my Dragonflies and has been happy since.

I skipped reading all the comments and went to the bottom to say Benchmade 530 or 940/943

Benchmade 530 this one is silly thin, a Mel Pardue design

Benchmade 940 this is the regular ano-green aluminum handled one with a reverse tanto, which I want so so bad. Very thin and just hides in your pocket.

Benchmade 943 same as the 940 but with a clip point blade. Which is more "tactical" but imo less "useful"

I would still happily punch someone for any of them. Glad your wife is into it. My girlfriend "begrudgingly" carries my mini-grip in her purse. I dunno though, i saw her whip it out the other day to open a box, made me smile.

and edited to reflect everyone else has great taste and suggested all of these already.

My wife likes smaller and lighter blades as well. She stole the new ZT0770 CF from me literally the minute I opened the box! It's a fantastic slicer, a little more than your range, but I'd bet she'd love it.

Since you have a PM2..... BM 530 on the right..

Women's pants are ridiculous. IMO, two of the nicest tactical, lightweight knives are the Benchmade 530/531 and Bechmade (903/904) Mini-Stryker.

I would recommend a manix 2 black. I love mine. Not black on black but that could be fixed. Pretty sharp knife. A black on black mini grip in D2 would also be very nice and well under budget.
