So my new buck 382 mini trapper arrived, and it looks pretty good, until i notice something unusual

when the blades (both of them) are in the "half stop position" both springs come completely out of the frame. I've never seen this before in any knife. I am honestly curious if this is just a lack of fit and finish or if this is an actual problem. Its just completely new and alien to me

so what say you folks?

tried to get a couple decent shots showing what i mean...

for reference, this is the picture from the website

That 382 is made in China right? All I could find was imported. I'm thinking somebody was sleeping in QC in China.

I just looked at a dozen of these in my collection. I don't think your spring comes out any further than any of mine so much as your spring appears to be thinner on the end. Most of mine come out with the inside edge about even with the frame back and yours spring being thinner on the end shows a little air. I wouldn't worry about it, it is a transient spring position as you open the blade. More importantly, are the springs nicely flush full open and closed and do the blades have adequate tension from the springs.

yes, springs are flush in the open and closed position and tension seems good
i just have never come across this before and thought i would ask around, i have something like 2 dozen to maybe 30 slipjoints and i havent even seen this before

I've owned quite a few Mini Trappers from other manufacturers, and have never seen a spring look like that at half stop, or come out that far either.
I didn't know the Bucks had half stops. That is cool...
