I've been looking at the MOD 875. How strong are these plunge lock mechanisms? Any blade play involved? I have no experience with this type of lock, so please enlighten me!

I've got the MOD CQD and CQD Mark II, both manuals with the Plunge lock. Rock solid lock-up, no blade play at all.

I have played around with the MOD knives at work. The lockup is tight and also works for one handed closing as well as opening.

I cant decide whether to buy the Mark I or II. hehe, I currently have the Mark I on hold for me. Then again, one MOD is all you need-GUARENTEED FOR LIFE. I have the 685, waitin for the paycheck so I can get the MOD CQD Mark I

The MOD's I've had and the ones I've only played with have all had rock solid lockup. I sorta think of the plunge lock as a "half axis lock" due to the way it locks up. I know that Microtech takes the extra step to taper their lock so that as it wears it will still have the solid lockup. I have never checked a MOD, but given their close relationship, Jim Ray and Tony Marifone, I would guess that the MOD is equipped with a tapered plunge.
