I'm talking about a knife that you had at one time, recently, or years ago, that you just kick yourself every time you think about losing, trading, or selling it away.

Maybe it was from a discontinued style, short custom run, factory gone under, maker deceased(or priced out of the market), or just plain great knife.

Tell me a little about it, and we can all mourn the loss together:(

Mine was this really cool Benchmade 850 with pearl handles, and the awesome rainbow anodized titanium bolsters, and liner.:(

Okay, now I need a hankie.

Man I could go on and on about this.

Being a production knife company employee, I was privy to some pretty cool discounts. Bought a *lot* of knives..sold a lot of knives. Gave a lot of knives away.

Favorites I shoulda kept:

First run Spydie Herbst
Viele - god i need another one of those
and of course my Bladeforums Natives...god, dont even go there! Waaah!

Last year...just got back from SCUBA diving and jungle exploring in Belize, Central America, and I had my Mission MPK Ti in my center console of my Jeep. Jeep was broken into, and they got my radio and the knife! Damn -- it had just performed superbly underwater for me...

It was late March of 2000, my dad and I where in a sporting goods store (BG info: I was on leave from Boot Camp and the store was an hour's drive from home, it was one of those "Father and Son" afternoons) when I first fell in love with a tactical folder. It was one of Eliswitz's (sp?) early collaborations with Benchmade. I was not yet a knife nut but was well on my way when I picked that one up. It opened so good it HURT. I told the salesman "That's smoother than a switchblade!" I had the money, but I wasn't going to buy it. That is why it hurt so much, I was looking at a great knife that I would never use. It is just as well. When I went to my technical training the instructors were anal about knives in the barracks and I was such a neophyte I would have destroyed it by now. Of course, losing it was a real concern in MCT unless the only thief in the Marines eyeballed it:) Still, I wish I had bought it. Funny thing is, I don't remember what it was called or even what it looked like. I only remember the blade looked like what every knife blade should look like. Man I was so naive back then, still am.
