When I was in first grade, I ate a slice of Sicilian pizza and proceeded to get violently sick. Couldn't touch the stuff until I was in high school. Regular pizza, no problem. The sight of Sicilian made me nauseous.

A while back I acquired a Case knife that was a bit on the crappy side from their not-so-good days. Even after hearing great review after great review on this website, I never picked one up.

Until the other day when I ordered a yellow mini-trapper in CV. OH BOY! this thing is amazing! Fit and finish hands above anything I have with a German name on it. Awesome half stops. zero play. scales well shaped. edges are like scalpels right out of the box.

Now I might have to pick up a few dozen of Case's offerings. Maybe I'll build my nerve up enough to get some of their SS models (looking for encouragment)!

Touche', neeman. :p

(I kinda liked the juxtaposition though. Perhaps, I should have said enjoy the ride down the "slippie" slope. ;))

Encouragement Given, Great knives, even in SS.

Congrats on your Trapper!

I've been carrying Tru-Sharp Cases in various formats for a couple of months now, and have absolutely no complains. Just touch it up on a strop once in a while and it's fine, just like any other decent steel.

More encouragement. I only have 4 or 5, but they're excellent. And if you buy one that's not, send it back. Their Customer Service attitude is very good.

I wonder what their attitude is to blade rub on new knives .
I have two CV knives .Yellow medium trapper and an amber bone medium trapper .Rub marks on all blades .I guess I should send them back but it's hassle as I'm in UK .Also I have a Moore Maker 3 spring whittler with bad blade rub marks . No problems with 3 Bokers a Queen and a Queen made Bulldog .
Case marketing is good .Lots of colour and attractiveness.

Giuliano, let's try to stay on topic if you please. The issues you have brought up have been discussed here many times (and also in the feedback section of the forums).

Feel free to contribute to those threads or start a new one if need be. Thanks.

Hey mute,

I think you've hit on only about 50% of what is good about Case.

True, fit an finish can be hit or miss. But when it's good, it's very, very good. When It's bad, it's still pretty good.

But the real beauty of Case is the people who make it. When I had an old family heirloom knife that was badly worn and had a cracked bone scale to boot, I called case. Enter a great lady named Shirley Bowser I think it was. can't swear to the last name, its been a bunch of years.

I ended up sending the knife back to Case, and for a nominal fee that surprised me at how modest it was, they put in a new main clip blade, and replaced the cracked scale. How they matched the brown dye after almost 40 years, I don't know, but turning the knife over and over in my hand, from frontside to back, I couldn't tell it was a replacement.

Try that with Boker, Eye-brand, or other overseas maker.

I think untill, and even on the day they pound that last nail in the box, I'll be a loyal Case user, with one in my pocket.

My first experience with Case was in the early 60's when family in Idaho used to send us copies of Saturday Evening Post ,Life magazine and Look (remember that ?) magazine .Fascinating stuff for me as a young boy .Then a copy of Shooters Bible .Eventually one Christmas a package arrived containing two Case knives one for me and one for my uncle with whom I lived on a small farm as my father was overseas with the RAF.I remember the knife pattern was the pen type for me and uncle had a kind of trapper or whittler with three blades.Anyway he liked a small knife so we exchanged knives .Sadly I had to leave the country life behind me and work in the city and in other countries .Now 40 years or so later I live in a country area again and fish regularly. Also have a .22 and a 12 and 20 gauge .Case knives always hold fascination for me despite the shortcomings I've mentioned .I still buy them .I can't look at their ads. without feeling nostalgia and remembering that Shooters Bible ,Field & Stream etc .Now I'm starting to ramble .Hope I haven't strayed too far off target .

Buy their SS knives with confidence! I have a little 6344SS Medium Stockman that I carry daily...it is a GREAT pocketknife and the stainless blades take and hold a great edge.

No Blues, you were right the first time. I'm well down the slippie slope, but just started down from the ridge of the Case slope. The last two good American slippies I bought were an Old Timer 330T that I got from my father when I was 8 back in 1983 and a Queen Classic Canoe in 1095 that I bought last year. Everything else I have is Boker, Henckels, Eye Brand, Puma, or the OLD Hugo Koller corkscrew jack I inherited from my dad.

I bought a Case 5 1/2" toothpick last year in stainless. It was cheap and perfect in fit and finish. It is a little boxy in design but that makes it cute. The stainless steel takes and keeps a great edge. I use it a lot in the kitchen, great for tomatoes, fish, chicken. Hasn't chipped or rolled and its quite flexible. All it's ever needed was a touch up on the 15 degree white sharpmaker flats. Its a big knife and to get it off the bottom of my pocket, I carry it in one of the large William and Henry pouches that Smokey Mtn was selling.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, I love my stainless bone stag peanut. I gave away my CV yella peanut a while ago, and planned to replace it. But to tell the honest truth, in day to day use of my true sharp, I haven't noticed a difference. It opens my mail, cuts jute twine for the rapidly growing tomato plants, and deals with snacks and plastic packages just fine.

Get a true sharp and use well.

I'm not sure how many CASE knives I have, probably 14 or so and mostly stainless and I have not had a quality issue with any so far....Their stainless is of good quality like SAK or Opinel and very useful and easy to sharpen. Many do prefer the look of CV and that's fair enough. Just this week I got a Slimline Trapper in Bermuda Green Pocket Worn and I can't fault it: No gaps, rough edges, bluntness or uneven finish.Very nice snap and dead sharp nor is the kick too sharp to tear up pockets, but some people do like a sharp edged kick.
Perhaps I have been over lucky with these knives but they have performed better than some o their more costly and allegedly superior rivals that I own.
As for customer service, haven't really needed it but I did write and ask if they could swap the scales from a stag Mini Trapper onto a Wharncliffe Mini Trapper in a rather virulent green algae bone. They declined as they only repair not refit, too bad!

I always handle my Case knives before I buy them. That way I never have to worry about something being wrong.

Bought a new one yesterday and its riding my pockets today at work. The quality of it is excellent.

I've purchased around 15 Case knives in the past 8 years, some new and some used. Some have stronger backsprings than others but hardly noticable. Case knives are excellent.
