Cable guy came over and fixed my problem, On his way out he spotted my beer bottle/ glass collection and was impressed. I asked where he was from in case I had any of his home countries beer to show. He said Nepal! I said I have no beers from Nepal, but do you know what this is? and showed him my M-43.
His eyes lit up! "I know what that is!" he proceded to tell me about the Khukri, and how his father has one that has been in the family for a very long time.
He took a picture of mine, and was interested in where it came from, and why a
Canadian was so impressed by it.
Living in Toronto I have worked with, and met folks from many different nationalities. One thing I have learned is they are always proud when someone likes something from their culture, be it food or music, or what ever. I think I made made this young mans day.

Being adventurous i went into a "Gurkhali Nepalese restaurant" and immediately the background made me feels like i'm not in my country. Looked more like Nepal with everybody looking at me and my colleague. I've never tried any Nepalese food but i reckon it won't deviate much from Indian's.

For the first 10 mins we had this "alien-peeking" looks from the fellows there but after they seen us using hands to scoop the rice everything just went easy.

It wasn't as spicy as most southern indian food and for sure i will go back again.

I would show him this too.

Khukuries are themselves great ambassadors.

I gave one to a Navy bud recently. When his father visited over Christmas, he showed it to him. Turns out the old man, also a vet, knew exactly what a khukuri was- and had a few stories to tell about them ...
