So...Ti Military's steel insert...REVERSIBLE?

I have a new C36ti and I noticed that the "hardened steel insert" has an extra hole drilled into it. Now, this may be a cost saving thing to build the lefties, maybe, maybe not, but I haven't taken it apart to see if the insert is symmetrical. Anybody notice this? It looks like you can just flip the thing around. I wonder if this is a design feature to aid with warranties (lockup no longer good, flip insert around) or a vestigial hole from Left handed millies, or ... I'm trippin'. The insert should be softer than the tang, right? so this insert could be replaced giving the knife a very long life. Ill try to post pics when I can find my camera.
Thanks.

I don't think they ever made lefties in the ti version...

My first guess would be that it is a positioning hole for the machining if the insert during manufacture...

just a guess, though.

Again, there are no Ti left handed Millies.
The detent ball is in the steel insert so no it can't be flipped without losing the detent. And it looks like the other forward hole is positioned over a raised pin. I doubt the screw holes are large enough to fit over that pin.

Thanks for the reply, I thought there were lefties. still, looks rather symmetrical to me, maybe it's a new thing, I may have to pull it apart to check, although I'd rather not.
...but the detent ball...so probably not.

yeah, you guys are right I think. It's probably a "homing" hole for setting the insert. DOH!

Just be careful on the reassembly. Millie washers are a bit finicky about proper positioning. They get dinged up easily.

Thanks for the tip. When I eventually do a take-down, I'll see what's what, although, I bet you're right. Cheers!
