So were the Dorks at Blade again this year? (Dark Ops)

So, what's the story? Were they as rude this year as they were last year? Did they actually have any new models to show. Did they actually let anyone handle them? Thanks. Just wondering.

Nope, no Dorks. Just dorks. ;) (At least I could find no evidence of their Las Vegas L'Extravaganza display - perhaps they 'de-animated' it?)

Just realized I did not see them. I think they got a clue from last year with all the people hacking on them. In a way I am disappointed, it was like a free stand-up show near their booth.

No they weren't there, but they had dealers there with the Dark Ops knives for sale. I handled a few and didn't like what I felt.

Faithful readers will doubtlessly recall that Dark Ops made a very bright entrance to the knife community by taking a huge booth at the 2004 Bladeshow. They filled their booth with fancy, custom-made display cases, huge banners, lots of hype... but not a single knife. That's right... empty custom-made display cases.

The vista of the 2005 Bladeshow was once again dominated by a huge Dark Ops booth. This time, the display cases had knives, but it was easier to handle and buy a shirt than a knife. The booth was famously deserted.

And at the 2006 Bladeshow? Nothing. No booth. No banner. Not even a table. And certainly no mention. Where the giant Dark Ops booth used to stand, just a cart selling cinnamon-roasted nuts.

I did hear a rummor (which I started, by the way) that they were supposed to be there, but Fed Ex lost their entire booth. :)

ROFLAO!! That is a good one!!

Sure fire had a nice booth where Dork Ops useed to be..( by the cinnamon nuts cart..) but again you could not buy any lights??? What the heck?? Brigade Tactical was selling lights at a brisk pace though!!

You're all wrong. They were there, but they've upgraded their booth for uber-stealth, and nobody could see them except the most alert operatives. And of course, they couldn't tell anybody, or they'd be covertly deanimated.

they are probably so close to bankrupcy that they can't afford a table on the show...which mean soon their models will be collectors...:D

Maybe the cinnamon nut cart was the Dark Ops booth hidden right in front of us. Maybe, if you walked up and said, "Nice weather we're having ;) "

"Not as humid as last year ;) "

"Yes, but muggier than three years ago ;) "

Then the package of nuts you were handed would have a Stratofighter inside. Very sneaky indeed. Truly covert.

A lot of manufacturers don't sell out of their booths at shows so as not to compete with their dealers.

I was wondering if you took away all there horrible advertising are the blades themselves any good?

If you search here a bit you'll find that the general consensus is that the knives are nice -- but not all their cracked up to be -- but overpriced. They are quite comparable to knives that generally sell for significantly less. In other words, you pay a lot for the hype.

Well, it is probably OK to leak it now; but, that was them. Their covert department disguised and hid the entire boot behind the roasted nuts. You just needed the code handshake and they would have hid your knife purchase within a giant bucket of nuts.

They probably figured out that Bladeshow is not the venue for a serious knife company like them, that the Bladeshow crowd of riff-raff is not their target market, and that they'd be better off blowing their advertising budget at NinjaConn and the annual Great Combined Commando Gearup and Lounge Chair Exhibition Show.
