So what do I have to do to lay hands on a PE Harpy?

My first quality knife was a Spyderco Harpy, purchased many years ago and subsequently beaten to hell. I love the knife, but the serrations are less than ideal for me, both in terms of aesthetics and ease of maintenance (PE hawkbills are totally drool-worthy.)

I've seen these on Japanese websites, but that doesn't do me much good, since I do not speak or read Japanese, and I'm wary of ordering from across the language barrier. Is there any place in the US that I can get one of these from? And how much would they go for, dollar-wise? (No speakity Yen.)

You have four choices. You can wait to see if these folks import any more and pay their $190 asking price. You can bite the bullet and try ordering one directly from G. Sakai in Japan. They're the ones who make them for Spyderco, so they'd be 100% reliable. Am sure they have someonei who speaks English and it might even work out a bit cheaper that way, depending on shipping costs. You can check eBay and the Exchange here daily hoping to find one at a better price. Or you can hope someone reads this thread and offers you one.

Definitely shoot for a VG-10 one. The older GIN-1 version, while worth more to collectors, has a one piece combination backspacer and mainspring. Age and metal fatigue are catching up with them, some have already broken.
