So what knife should I buy? ...

I recently sold my Spyderco Manix 2 as it was just too big for me to EDC in the office. I loved everything about it except the size. If it was about 70% of the size it would have been perfect for me.

I've had my eye on the Benchmade 755 MPR Sibert Titanium but I think that's probably too expensive to convince the wife I need. ;-)

What else is out there that you would recommend for under $150, ideally under $100 street?

Knowing I like 154cm and similar steels, blade definitely under 3", maybe 2.5" to 2.9" would be ideal? And I like the looks of the Manix 2 and Benchmade 755 MPR?

Any tips or ideas much appreciated, thanks! :-)

Chris

I feel like a broken record because I keep recommending this knife. But, the Spyderco Sage 1 and 2 are like a downsized Manix in shape and offer two choices for locking mechanisms. I have a Manix 2 and recently bought a Sage 2. Haven't carried the Manix since. I cant say enough good things about the Sage knives. You'll find the shape very similar. The blades are S30v which is just fine by me. Sage 1 (just under 100 dollars in some places) has carbon fiber scales with a sturdy liner lock, the 2 is more expensive (around 140) with a titanium frame lock and the same blade. The pocket clip is also awesome.

Check out a mini grip or mini Pika G10. The mini Pika will have a inferior steel than 154cm at 9cr13 but its a great sub 3 inch knive (I believe 2.9 inch blade). Also a Delica might be a good lightweight choice. I also have boker subcom, its a sub 2 inch blade and can be used as a money clip quite well. AUS 8 steel though, take it as you will this is my first blade with AUS8 and has seen minimal use. I dont think you will have a hard time finding "good" knives meeting your criteria.

Buck Vantage small (pro series)

Cold Steel mini lawman and ak-47

Sog flash 1

SpyderCo Delica

Fallkniven TK4 and U1

Out of those ive listed id go with the delica, fallkniven or the buck, but hey thats me.

I also realized 3in folders fit me perfectly for EDC.
I have a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian and a SOG Visionary I. I like both, they're perfect EDC. I prefer the SOG because of the blade and the handle. The lock is better in the Benchmade. Next one will be the Delica 4 FFG!

mini grips as mentioned

kershaw Leek [just picked one up ] nice ,sleek and less than $50

I'll put in another word for Spyderco's Sage series. The general profile is very similar to the Manix2 but in a smaller package. The blade size is right in your target range, the materials are solid, fit and finish are excellent and the wire clip is effective and inconspicuous. Both the TI and CF scaled versions are excellent IMO

You took the words right out of my mouth. ;):p

I EDC a Kershaw Skyline, Kershaw OD-1, Buck Vantage Pro, Kershaw Leek or Spyderco Tenacious currently. All right around 3" blade lengths.

I will be adding a Sypderco Paramilitary 2 soon once more stock comes in. I may also get a Syderco Delica G-10. I love my Syderco Endura G-10 but it is too big for me to EDC in the office environment.

Check out the Ritter Mini Gtiptilian too. It has a 2.88" blade I think.

Another vote for the Sage Series.

Between the Sage 1 and 2 they both rock Wire Clips and handle materials that glide in and out of the pocket. Perfect for office carry.

The Sage 1 can be had $90-100 BNIB shipped to the door.

The Sage might be the one, thanks! :-)

You definitely won't be disappointed:
