So What's Going with ZT's Production?

A lot of items are out of stock at major dealers. The 551 was limited but where is the 550? Why the hold up? What about 350s? They seem to be out everywhere. Also the new ZT 7XX models are no where to be seen. ...Just look at ZT's page on GPknives or KC--EVERYTHING is out of stock (no exaggeration).

Anyone know anything about this situation? Maybe Thomas can chime in? :)

I ask because I'm at a point on my 350 hunt where I have to import one from Canada!

It's puzzling from a marketing standpoint to NOT have the 550 available when:
1. 551 are selling above or same original price on secondary market indicating demand for the 550.
2. Leaked existence of Hinderer flipper colab.--now everyone is going to WAIT for the flipper even if 550 was readily available.

To me something happened if the production whether is be procurement that delayed the 550 and all other ZT knives. 550's availability right after the 551 and BEFORE acknowledgement the Hinderer flipper would have made the 550 sell like hotcakes!

Just My Opinion,but....
after the success of the ZT/Hinderer 0551,they'll all sell like hotcakes!
The 0551,being a Sprint Run,managed to stir up a Feeding Frenzy.
The 0550 will be a fine production knife; thankfully: not (yet another) recurve....or tanto....both of which kept me outta the ZT market til now.
And everybody I'm aware of is intending to buy both the 0550 & the Flipper.
At least one 0550;perhaps one Flipper in each of the proposed colors.Or more....
And I've requested kershawguy to automatically place me on ANY pre-order list that begins with ZT/Hinderer....
Will ride that train til it grinds to a halt; no pun intended.

Up until a few days ago I had several 0350's in stock. I know that there are really good reasons for production being put on back burner, like any business you supply the product that puts the potatoes on the table and you do the other stuff (the really cool stuff that we like)when you can. Kershaw runs their company for profit, just be thankful that they still take the time to do stuff we like that isn't necessarily profitable, because they care about us too. We just need to be patient and it will come.

Sorry, wasn't trying to deal spot and wasn't clear on the rules, and now I know!

Production is slowly moving along. Kershaw has taken factory floor time away from ZT recently. We should be ramping up ZT shortly.

I for one, can't wait for the supply to come back up so I can buy a 550 instead of just looking at pictures! What about the 55x recall I read about somewhere in here? I love ZT and own the 350KW, the 301 and a 302. I'm glad to hear something of substance regarding the cause. In my ignorance I thougth ZT and Kershaw would have their own facilities and be cranking out product 24x7 because it sounds like they could sell all they can make! Thanks for the update. It's nice to hear some inside skinny.

A google search brought up at least a dozen with 0350's in stock. Wont be deal spotting but I'm not too sure where you're looking.

I was talking to my favorite internet knife dealer the other day and he told me that ever since a ZT knife was featured on some tv show (I don't know which one) he sold his entire zt stock and is now having trouble getting more. This was after going all winter with selling hardly any.

I think ZT/Kershaw/KAI could triple in both size and production, triple Thomas W's salary, put Rick Hinderer on continuous retainer as consultant/collaborator @ $ One Jillion U$D/yr.; hire Kershawguy to do PR work full-time, give Cheryl Kalleck in Customer Service a huge raise, pay Alphahunter ( in knives!) to start exciting new threads, send me a free ZT/H prototype knife each month, and still not keep up with demand.

That's what I think.No shit.

They gotta feed the retail monsters first...follow the money :)
Have they tried Chinese?

I love the fact the you can go to WM and get a US made Kershaw. But it also looks like a great place to sell about a zillion Compounds or Clashes.

They do have a few imports at the big-bog retailers. Dunno if Walmart stocks any non-US made Kershaws as per their agreements.

WM will be stocking the 3160 Crown (import) starting in July.
The Crown is a great choice. If it didn't say China on it no one would guess.
Polished Micarta and a great thumb stud.
