So, when is the funeral?

I am sure everyone here knew this would happen i have not be able to trade or sell a knife in two weeks not only that the mood here has changed it's very quiet :(

Well hey...If anyone has any old-fashioned used $25 CRKTs or $40 Spydies, I'll take 'em. That's what I ususally got out of the For Sale area anyway.

It's slow on all the for sale forums right now. Microholics, Knifeforums etc. But it is real slow here. I hope it is all worth it.

Things are not the way they used to be. Hope this works out. I am waiting and seeing.

It has definatly been slow. And with the "Views" feature, you can see just how slow it is going. Maybe this super subdivision of the "For Sale" forum wasn't such a good idea. It takes forever to go through all the forums. This may be why only a few people are visiting the "For Sale" forums. Maybe just a "For Sale: Custom" and "For Sale: Production" forums would be better.

Of course, it has been so slow that there are a lot of really good prices right now, so maybe it isn't so bad.

I'm sure that part of the reason for the "slow down" is because you no longer have some "individuals" in there with 10 or 15 different NIB knives they want to unload because they're clearing out their collection to make room for more. (collection, inventory, let's not get hung up over technicalities. )

Other reasons for it may be that many people won't buy a membership until they actually have something they want to sell, and others will wait a month or two anyway, just to see what happens.

Give it a little time before you decide it doesn't work.
I'm personally predicting that we'll see a drop in quantity and a rise in quality. Better knives, better deals.
Be patient, we'll see soon enough.

I don't know???

Seems a bit slow in the for sale Forums, but with the way they are broken up it really is hard to tell. And, since you never knew how many 'views' you post had before, how could you really tell?

I have gotten some interesting offers on my Mountaineer 1 but just not the right one :)

I would have paid the $30 anyway just for the enjoyment I've already had from BF!

I haven't figured out whether we lost a load of people, or whether three guys who were posting 20 knives a week and BTTT each post 3 times a day have gone away.

Just for fun we should all take an action to go through our collections and toss five knives into the for sale forum on Saturday. That will spark life into those forums. :)

Well, I posted a suggestion in the "Service/Support" forum last week along the lines of DET's comments, although slightly different. I suggested keeping the folder/fixed distinction, but doing away with the custom/semi-production/production distinction.

My own feeling is that the measly $30 fee productively chased off the BTTT hogs. But the Balkanization of the For Sale forums may be negatively discouraging buyers, too. May be too much of a good thing. I believe instituting the seller's fee alone, and maybe just dividing the For Sale into folders/fixed, would have smoothed out the traffic just fine.

(FWIW, yes, I believe nearly *everyone* here can cough up at least $20; and equally yes, it is your choice, etc., etc.)

Edit PS: before I look like a total hypocrite, plz note I signed on as a gold member Sunday, just don't know how long it takes to kick in on-screen ...):)

Me, too thinks it takes too long to look through all the 4sale forums.
sometimes you are in the marekt for a specific knife, sometimes you are just browsing around and maybe find an interesting deal.
I mean I do not realy need another knife!
This doesn't mean I'm not going to buy another one :)

Cougar,

I evolved and got a Mac -- I open new windows all the time :p

My problem is that I need a T1 connection when I check in from home! :(

I have been looking to buy a Randall and saw 2 posts in the For Sale, production fixed blades and 2 or 3 in the For Sale, custom fixed blades. It's obviously easy to distinguish between fixed and folding, but custom production seems to be more subjective. Just my obvservation. I'm not complaining, I don't mind having multiple categories to look at. Maybe we should just have fixed and folders.

I find it's a real pain to sort through 10 different for sale forums instead of 3. It shouldn't be that big a deal, but it FEELS like more of a chore than it was before. I'd still opt for the production/custom distinction over separating by fixed vs folding.

I thought this forum was for the DISCUSSION of knives. Spark only did what Mike should have done long ago. Are you able to go into your local B & M store and sell your knives without paying a commission? The For Sale forums were changed because they were abused. I think many of us have lost sight of what BFC really is...a place for people of like mind to discuss their mutal interest.

Cougsr, DN,

Or get Opera! Multi windows (in the program, not in the task bar), cookie/image management, lots of other features...and it's free at the moment.

I have to agree with Paul, I do not come here to buy and sell, I come here to discuss, compare and generally learn. I have seen drop off in the forums I frequent.
