At a halfway reasonable price???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Or a custom replacement blade for an existing folder?
Ben

3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inch blade, Axis type lock, or automatic, CPM M4 steel, convex edge, plain black handles, polished blade.

axis lock is benchmade-not sure if any makers use it-
m-4 steel is going to cost alot i bet-

most guys are going frame lock or liner lock

have you taken a look at places like -true north knives and the knife cellar

No, but I will-Thanks!:)

Frame lock I can live with, (if I have to) but liner locks are not my cup of tea.

If BM has a patent on the axis, I think I'll go with a frame lock automatic.

M4 is a high speed tool steel. which means the heat treat is probably an ungodly welp of a whore to pull off, and that will probably show up in the price.

you also might find a flipper easier than a auto-most places auto's arent welcome so alot of guys dont do them

AFAIK, there aren't any restrictions on autos here in Colorado.:):) I would prefer something like an axis for travel, though. It would be kind of a bitch to have to leave my EDC home every time I travel!:grumpy:

And yes, I know if I get it, it's going to be God-awful expensive for the steel. But whenever you want something really special, it always is!:(:(

Benchmade has a patent on the Axis, the only guys allowed to use it are McHenry and Williams, the guys who invented it.

A framelock auto would not be impossible to make, but have you ever seen one? I haven't!

I think that CPM M4 is more suited for large choppers rather than small folder blades.

I might be interested, email me off of the forums, I'm always up for a new challenge!

Ken Onion makes a great assisted opening frame-lock, all you have to do is track him down at a show and get lucky in the draw. Very lucky ;)

Howard Viele uses a ball lock in some of his folders that works somewhat similarly to the axis lock. Not sure if he is taking orders right now, though, or if he is willing to work with CPM M4.

I know Larry Chew and Larry Davidson both have made framelock D/A autos, but I am not aware of their current order status either.

I have not seen CPM M4 in a custom folder yet, but I am sure that at least one exists somewhere. I'm just not sure what makers are willing to work with it at this point in time.
