so who's out chopping?

I'm about to hit the edge of the West 40 with a Busse FFBM and an HI Khukri. I'll be chopping up a storm!

Wish me luck ... I ain't young no more. ;)

Not here it isn't..... been quite sunny at times but also a strong wind. Which is a pest as amongst other outdoor tasks I've to remove several branches off a tree for a friend -- to do which I will use a Tanaka polesaw plus a kukri .... probably my 30oz, 15" bladed sirupate.

Another spring cleanup day will include Swamprat chopweiler , Ranger RD 9 and two Rinos for the nephews while i direct things, of course relaxing and tests the born on date cans

I did most of my needed chopping last week.

No Chopping here right now. Maybe this weekend or next weekend. Will take my 20" Sirupati and probably 16.5" WWII.

This past weekend, a friend and I cut up a few maple limbs and branches to take home for firewood, using a 15" AK, Valiant Trading Company Golok, and a Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel.

The weekend before, my 19" Samsher saw some use felling and limbing two trees in the pouring rain. Thank goodness for flared pommels!

This past weekend went to my buddy's vacation place; trout fished, rode motorcycles, ate BBQ. Oh yea, used my Foxy Folly & AK15 to do some clearing & pruning.

Went out hiking yesterday, did some truly dangerous stuff (Jumping across to the other side of a river, over slick rocks, 15 feet before the cascade, which is about a 60 foot drop to the rocks below)
My jump across the river was a little close - I got soaked. And the water is FAST moving - there would be no chance to get out.

Oh, and I did some chopping too. I brought my favorite knife, ever - 18" Gelbu Special.
My brother came along, and he chopped with is 20" Siru.
I got some pics, but I have to resize 'em first.

I really need to get something to sharpen my Khukuri with.

Spent time this weekend cleaning out an old fence row. Boxelder, walnut, plum, prickly ash, maple, and cherry all trembled in the presence of the 20" CAK by Bahdur. Some nice woods were listed but they had seen years of wind, farm equipment, barbed wire, and other abuse. Otherwise the best they could hope for is stylish toothpicks! Was able to save a couple of young oaks and a hickory though.

The "one handed axe" also impressed some locals who thought it was more movie inspired than utility driven, until they saw it in action. Delimbing can be a beautiful thing...

Let me thank all those that insist that reading the safety thread multiple times is a good idea. It is an extremely good idea, especially if you like staying in one piece. I haven't had any oopsies, and credit the 2+ times through the safety thread for that!
