Exactly what the title asks...why is there no sub forum for Benchmade??

The most talked brands that I hear are Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw and I see there is no sub forum for Benchmade and Kershaw has just been yanked...

what's the deal?

thank you for any answers!

Benchmade have their own forum on their site, and I believe they wish to keep that as their only forum. Others may know more specifics.

I believe all mfr sub-forums are moderated by representatives of that company.

If Benchmade objects to having a forum presence here, or declines to mod one (for whatever reason,) then I guess there won't be one.

Sometimes mfr forums come and go. I seem to remember a few years back there was a Cold Steel sub-forum here.....it only lasted a few days.

wow very interesting thanks for the information gentlemen. Makes more sense now, wish they did allot a sub forum, would amp their sales and knowledge of their knives.

They should still have a sub-forum for Benchmade though. They could just add a sticky that says the sub is not moderated by BM. Problem solved.

BF just doesn't hand out forums to people. To have a subforum here costs money although I have no idea how much. IMO it's a good move for any knife company to have a subforum here because of the exposure and familiarity it will bring the brand. But some companies chose not to for some reason. Some people like Kershaw get subforums for a while and chose not to keep them. I have no idea why that happens but I would love to see a BM and Kershaw subforum here.

Without naming names, another part of it might be that Bladeforums has some customs--like not deleting/editing posts a manufacturer might find uncomfortable or embarrassing, that probably play a part in their deciding whether or not to have a sub-forum.

BladeForums.com Service and Support
Technical Support, Suggestions, Feedback, and Customer Service...

Bladeforums does not charge knife companies to have a forum here. We only insist they have a manufacturer's representative moderate it and be available for discussions.

Some companies prefer not to communicate with their customers this way. Others feel unable to continue doing so. Why is not a problem for us: they are welcome here but the decision is entirely theirs.

Under no circumstances do we establish a forum without manufacturer support. Those companies can be discussed in the General Knife Discussion.

If only there was a list of frequently asked questions...

It always amuses me how rude some people can be online. If they were to act this way in real life they'd get their teeth knocked in on a daily basis...

It amuses me how oblivious some people can be online. No problemo reading thread titles and threads but can't seem to see Faq's, announcements, stickies, directions and such. Then there are those that talk smack when and to whom they really should'nt. I agree there are some pretty rude people in life, but knocking their teeth out only gets you assault charges and doesnt make your manners any better than theirs. Be better than that.

Beat me to it Karda.

Harsh comments are one thing, but threats online are serious.

You seriously need to work on your reading skills, sport. In no way was that a threat. Jesus Christ, man up and try not to be such a drama queen.
