I have a Umnum on the way (my first CRK) and I am wandering what is considered to be the best lube to use. I am using mineral oil and Ballistol oil for my fixed blades Tuf Glide for folders, Super Lube for flashlights' threads. Would Super Lube or other oils I have be Ok to use on CRK? What do you use suggest?

I like the heavy weight Nano Oil for smooth folders and the medium weight Nano Oil for fast folders and flippers. Previous to that, I was using Militec-1 grease on my Sebenzas.

I like air tool oil because its nice and thin. Works good for me and its not hard to find

CRK fluorinated grease works well. It's a very small tube, but unless your cleaning your knives multiple times throughout the week it lasts. A little goes a long way.

12 or so CRK's later I'm just now running out of the first tube:thumbup:

It depends on how fast you would like to deploy your CRK. I personally like the hydraulic feel of the CRK grease. I have used oils on my sebenza's aswell for faster deployment but they needed constant application. CRK is the best way to go.

Congrats on your umnum, I think that you're going to love it! I know that I do mine.

I pulled it apart when I bought it to remove the lanyard, while it was apart I cleaned it ( even though it was still clean ) and used a bit of the CRK fluorinated grease ( I use it on all of my CRK's ). It's been almost two years of edc use, and I use my knives, it's still fine although I'm sure that it deserves a regrease. I doubt many other oils could claim that track record. As far as how quickly it opens, well, I can flick it open with one hand without issue, not as fast as an axis lock but it wasn't designed to be, still lightning quick though.

It's worth the 15 to get the grease, if you clean your umnum a lot it'll still last you many many years, a little truly does go a LONG way.

Congrats again on getting one of the best folding knives ever designed.

Another vote for the CRK flourinated grease. I tried lots of things, oils, grease, miltec... nothing is as smooth or lasts as long.

I'll add my vote too, for the pivot lube. I've always used CRK lube on my Sebenzas, but lately, I've started using it on my other knives as well. I really like the results on my Spydercos. I've used it on Para2s and Caly 3s.

I don't use anything on my blades anymore. I just keep 'em clean but don't coat them with anything.

What is this CRK flourinated grease? Who makes it and what is the original name?
