So would you consider a TL-29/Electricians knife a "multi-purpose" knife?

I would, what about ya'll?

Maybe not as versatile as a SAK
but still more utility than a pure pocket knife dontcha think?

Most definitely!

The screw driver blade/tool adds a whole other dimension to it. Light prying, screws, bottle opener, scraper tool.

Of course...in my opinion, any knife that has more than just a blade for cutting, ie additional "tools" such as a file, or a can opener, a screwdriver, wire stripper, corkscrew, etc, in any combination qualifies as a multi-tool. Many GEC knives, as well as Case, Boker, et al, fall into this category, yet owners of these knives seldom post, in this sub-forum.

Yes I would consider the TL-29 electricians knife multi purpose knife, I have used the screwdriver blade to open soda cans just slip the tip of the screwdriver blade under the can's ring and lift and it pops open.

Two blades, each made for a different purpose. Duh!

I have two, but sadly the bail is broken off of one.

I've always thought an Electrician's knife was excellent. They would sit around in my store or on ebay for the longest time.
Most don't appreciate them and the funny thing is the last two Electricians I ask if they were interested in one both said, What's an Electricians knife?

Real licensed ones! LOL

Take a metal blade with uninsulated handle and cut live wire with it...now THAT is old school! :p

They are no SAK but they are built strong, can be had for cheap, and have a screw driver/hack blade that you can use for all the rough stuff to save your edge on the main blade. The quality vs price alone makes them a gem.

I'm an electrician. I'm 31. I carry mine since i got it from my father. I have a queen tl_29. Holds a pretty good edge. I love stripping panels in with it.

I think I would. I always had one in my tool bag when I was still in the service. Awhile back I ran across one with the brown synthetic handle and Ken Coats reshaped and buffed up the handle and bolsters. Then notched it and made it into a single blade easy open knife. Kinda cool and something a bit different.

Good, sturdy knives that have been around for years. I think about every major company had a gov't contract for them it seems.

As a maintenence mechanic I've been carrying an electricians knife for 30 years. The toughest thing was trying to hold on to one.... everyone else wanted needed it. Great tool for EDC.

There should be a bottle opener implemented on that screwdriver blade. If it works for you, then it's good.
