Anyone take theirs apart yet? I just removed the CR lanyard as I like to use my own. Well the lanyard holder thingy falls out and you have a Sebenza hole. A nice option, but trying to get a new lanyard through the little hole in the thingy presents a challange. I did it, but had to melt the end of my 550 cord to the sharpest point I could muster and then use needle nose pliers to pull it through. All this while listening to the new Metallica(WOW! GREAT ALBUM). I didn't take the time to take photos of it apart, but I'm sure someone here can. I'm not taking it apart again right now.
:grumpy:
I got punchy about not having a photo so I took one.

That's what I thought. The lanyard is what keeps that thingy in place. When I checked out the prototype at Plaza Cutlery it seemed that nothing kept the lanyard holder in place but the lanyard. That way you can go with or without the lanyard without untying it.

As you put it..."the lanyard holder thingy"

Would it fit a regular or classic Sebenza lanyard hole?

Funny cuz I never took my proto apart. I just assumed that there was a champfer(?) on either side of the ti slabs that held it in place when the thingy was removed.

I don't see why not. Though it may be a little shallow as the Numzan slabs as well as the spacer are thicker.

Did the same thing on mine. I replaced with some grey paracord and did the point/needlenose thing also. Took me by surprise as I did not notice it was gone until I got ready to put the paracord in:eek:. Finally found it laying on the floor, thank goodness!:D

A straw (the ones you use to drink stuff) is generally a good help to pull thick lanyards through smaller holes. Slice it open a bit, stuff the lanyard end in it, roll it closed as good as it gets and pull it through.

I still don't quite understand how the new cord tie bar works. If it is smaller than than the holes on the handles and would fall out without the lanyard tied, then how do you remove the tie bar with the lanyard still tied as Scott mentions is possible above?

It would seem that if the tie bar falls out without the lanyard, you would have to remove the lanyard to release it.

You disassemble the knife -- easy to do if you have the pivot wrench.

Ahh, that's the only way I was thinking it would work. I don't know if it would be more of a PITA to disassemble the knife or tie another lanyard--I suppose it would depend on your skills at each.

I'm bad at tying lanyards . . . at least good looking ones :o. For me, disassembly is the way to go -- and lube at the same time.

I don’t like lanyards so I took mine off immediately. Of course the pin fell out.
I preferred the look with the ‘lanyard thingy’ in place, instead of a hole in the handle.

I took some thin nylon cord , inserted it into the hole of the lanyard pivot pin, and melted both ends of the cord so that it wouldn’t come out. Now my zann still has the lanyard pivot in it without the lanyard attached.
