Well I just read a piece on unsecured cargo, and people are getting killed by all the "stuff" they keep in their suv's and vans.

Way back when, folks drove cars, cars had separate areas called trunks and this is where they stored their "stuff". ;)

Today we love our suvs and all the room to store "stuff".The problem is we are now riding with all our "stuff" and its killing us.Toss that bag of groceries on the back seat and at a 35 mph crash a can of peas will hit your head with 100 lbs of force. Those car seats keep our kids nice and safe, but when mom puts the fold up crib and stroller in back it can kill your baby.Of over 100,000 kids that went to hospitals with injuries from car crashes, one out of twelve were injured JUST from flying "stuff". How many buy a big suv thinking they are safer, then put all kinds of gear in it to keep them more safe, only to die in a minor mva, from being struck by the very gear carried to keep them safe.

Just a thought for those of us that keep, knives shovels,axes,b.o.b,tools etc on board. It was recomended that you install a metal screen in the rear (somewhat like dog owners use)and store your stuff behind there.

Good post Lone Hunter. In my line of work I've seen it all too often. Used to be, it was teenagers getting killed by the loose stereo speakers sitting on the rear deck. Now it's all the crap people keep in the rear of the SUV's coming forward and doing some rather grissly damage. It can and does happen folks.

An excellent point. Quite a few years ago some acquaintances of mine were moving a Harley in a van. They got in a minor accident and the bike came flying forward, killing a young woman that was with them. Unsecured cargo in the back of a pick-up truck can be quite hazardous as well.

Good Post I drive a old Range Rover and keep most things in waterproof ammo cans size escapes me. They are put in a duffel bagand tied down to the ties provided. Even my knives are tied down in front. My brother in law is a cop so I've seen the stuff that happens.
Peace
Bob
