Hello my Brothers in Bacon!

I wanted to let you guys know that some BF members (myself included) are in the process of trying to make a San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles area get together happen in the near future. The idea has been unfolding in this thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1287263-Just-scored

I know there are some LA area based people hanging around here and I thought you might be interested in getting in on the fun.

We're still figuring out details, date, location but I wanted to gauge interest. Nothing is set in stone yet, so if you have any thoughts on location or any ideas for the GTG, I'd love to hear from you.

Would be really cool to put some faces to names and will be a great time!

Show off our knives and gear, make some friends, and maybe even work out a deal or two ;)

Sounds pretty awesome to me...so what do you guys think?

Anybody interested?

Thanks :) [emoji106] [emoji481]

Edit-

List of interested people:

California Custom Knife Show. October 10th and 11th.
Thanks for that info....honestly, I hope that by then we might be looking at the second or even 3rd SoCal GTG.

The California Custom Knife show sounds like it'll be a good excuse to have some kind of GtG, don't you think?

You guys could trek out to the desert and search for the famous motherlode of Busse knives that Jerry left in a cave years ago. Maybe the drought has killed all the Poison Oak that subsequently blocked previous search attempts.

Don't ask me for clues, search is your friend. Legend and Lore says that it's out there, somewhere.

Ooh RG I'm going to have to find this post! Can you at least help with a keyword from the thread that you remember? This will be a good test of search skills....

Oh also interested parties and LA area people, there is a new thread in General Discussion for an SFV meeting now. Express your interest there please :)

On tapatalk right now but I'll post a link to it from my computer later on...

By the time I got here in 2006, it was already a legend and a GrailQuest, can't remember any specific thread. Supposedly, skunk and some others went out looking. Ask Bravado, he's SoCal and Old School.

Thanks man, I'll have to investigate this a little further. Jerry's geocaches were one of my favorite surprise discoveries after I started hanging out here...I had no idea he did one out here otherwise I would have given it a shot already!

Thanks again RG :)

Found this for you, a post from 2002:

Redhook. . . .Can you say "Red Rock Canyon" ??? Angry cactus, wild burrows, Snakes, no water, knives buried there in 1982!!!!

Also, for you Californians, , , ever heard of Cucamonga Wilderness outside of Upland, CA????? Knives buried there in 1980-1982!!!!!!

Don't stand there. . . start digging!!!!

Wish I could find that map!!!!!

Cucamonga is a veritable treasure chest of old blades. . . . . . Pretty country too.

Near a waterfall and a HUGE flat topped rock off of an old logging road. . .. I think. . . .. . There are still pistachio shells on top of that rock from 20 years ago. . . (at least there were 4 years ago when I tried to find those old blades. . . .The area was so overgrown that nothing looked like it did during the drought of '82.

Manhug incoming RG ;)

Thanks so much for that...we've been in a pretty serious drought here, comparable to how things might have been in 82 (my birth year....was Jerry burrying these for me?!). Conditions could be on my side for this potential excursion...

Time for some internet and Google earth research. Then borrow a metal detector. It'll be a couple weeks before I can get out there but I'm going to get something going.

If nothing else it'll be a great hike

I'd be interested in a GTG! 👍

cool!

For you and everyone else interested, here's a link to the most "official" thread regarding the GTG:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1288691-Calling-all-SFV-Knife-Nuts!

Right now it's looking like Jerry's Deli on Topanga & Ventura is going to the be location, but it is subject to change up until Sunday. If you guys have any ideas of a place where we can get together & maybe be able to bust out our knives without problems, we're open to suggestions!

You may need to have it outside CA for that one..... :barf: [emoji14]

I'd recommend having it somewhere on BLM land, personally. You can shoot some guns while you're at it, too.... ;)
LOL...it's not that bad here, not with knives at least.

Being able to chop and shoot and play on BLM land would be cool though

Just left a message in the other thread discussing a June GTG; I'll be gone most of June, but anything after that would be fine by me!
