SOCFK - Thoughts and musings on my first Emerson

So...I had been looking at the Emerson brand for a while with more than a little curiosity. I read every thread and watched every youtube video I could find. The good FAR out-weighed the bad. The price seemed a little high, but I kept hearing good things about Mr. Emerson and that "when you hold one, you'll understand".
I decided to bite the bullet and buy an Emerson knife. Which one? I can only afford one example at this time, so what would be the "perfect" example of an Emerson for me?
I had narrowed it down in my head to one of the cqc-7 models, until I saw the SOCFK-B SF. To me, this seemed like the exact combination I wanted in MY example an Emerson. The 7 blade in an 11 handle(?),that looked "perfect" to me! I ordered my knife and eagerly waited.
Upon arrival I quickly unboxed and inspected my choice. It's a little bigger than it looked in the pics, which is a plus. Fit and finish is nice. The stonewashed tanto blade is beautiful, and very sharp. The G-10 handle is very grippy, and the ergonomics are outstanding. Lockup is as solid as I expected, but it was a little sticky until I used a pencil lead to lube it. The pivot wasn't gritty at all. After opening and closing in front of the t.v. for a night, deployment is very smooth. I actually like the chisel grind more than I thought I would.
I have EDC'd this knife since it's arrival a week ago, so that we could get to know each other. Now I think I know what was meant by the statement- "when you hold one, you'll understand".

NOW.........to start saving for the NEXT one.........

Cool, i have been stalking my local mail man lately waiting for my first Emerson, the gentleman jim!:)

Always awesome to read about another new convert. Emerson knives really are something special. There are so many reasons, but I think you have touched on a few of them for sure. Not get that thing scratched up!

Thanks, man! A convert is exactly correct! I am working on getting it scratched up, but that's the good thing about the stonewash. It doesn't show up as much. :) Can't wait to save up for another one!
