Around the first week or so of June I sold two knives to an American gentleman living in Israel. Well, he emailed me this morning after finally receiving them (it took six weeks with the last month sitting in customs hands in Israel). I expected him to let me know that they'd arrived and for him to give me his general opinion of them - kind of SOP, standard operating procedures, right? Something I think all custom makers wait for after a sale to a new customer. It's very similar to a first date..."Did she like me? Did I have Skoal in my teeth? Ah heck, I did have Skoal in my teeth, dang it anyway!", etc. - Ah but I digress. ;) Sometimes our anticipation is mixed with a little trepidation, after all - nice guy or not - my new customer had been waiting for what seemed like a lifetime for them to arrive.

His email was nice but to the point which seemed odd as we've enjoyed some email banter back and forth while we were waiting for the knives to arrive. I honestly had no idea what to expect when he told me to "just click on the links" in his email. I'm just learning about this stuff they're calling "Social Media"...Well apparently he has a channel on Youtube where he talks about knives -all kinds from production to custom; steel; handle material; politics, etc. He has over 350 different people subscribing which I find very cool. Well, bottom line, here are the same links. Let me know what you think about this 'new fangled' way of the internet meeting custom knives.

"Kestrel in Fossil Coral"

Were in a new era folks!!! Wake up fellow steel shapers...."the times they are a changing" and we better learn a little about this so called "Social Media" before we get left behind. Ooops, gotta go check my Twitter to see if it tweeted all over my facebook page! :D

Yours is the most organized and extensive use I've seen of showing a knife from the collector's perspective. The personal approach that is non-threatening and educational seems one of the highest uses of the world wide web. Frankly, until professional level audio and video become commonplace, it will hinder those talented, motivated, well equipped, gear-wise folks who are here now and want to get in and raise the bar. Having said that, it is always a lot of fun to watch those around us as they improve their game

Thats pretty cool Wayne, thanks for sharing. It looks like people who subscribe to his channel are already starting to discuss your knives.

Thanks gentlemen!

Buddy, will you be shooting pics at the show here in August? If so, I'll see you there.

Rob, I guess I need to get involved on there huh? BTW How's your lil' bro doing?

Welcome to the world of "Web 2.0". :D That lil' fossil coral blade sweeet!
