Hello guys,
I'm looking for those stainless steel 10-24 5/8 socket screws for my BK9 and BK10 I can't find them in any local stores (I'm in Canada)...
Is there a source online ?
Is there a kind that ismore durable and rust proof ?
Thanks and a happy new year !

I couldn't find the #10-32X5/8" at either Lowes or Home Depot in the local stores. They had 1/2" and 3/4", but not 5/8", so I checked with the local Fastenal and they had them. It would have cost $1.50 for them to open up a package and buy a half dozen, so I just bought the bag of 50 screws and 50 nylock nuts. I talked them into a 10% discount as a military retiree, so it cost me $15.80 for all of it.

If I remember correctly, the "32" indicates 32 threads per inch, so is a finer thread than the "24", but either should work fine for holding on the scales.

Fastenal does have an on-line store or, if you want, PM me your address and I'll send you 7 of each (1 spare) as a Christmas present.

MSC or Grainger Industrial, would have them. When I was working for a municipallty, Hard to find hardware I ordered from MSC .

I couldn't find them at local hardware stores either. I ordered mine on ebay.

yep I got mine at Fastenel as well as ones for the bk11,14 handles as well and they are not very expensive at all!

FYI - I switched the socket-head screws out for slotted. That way I can remove the scales with either the screwdriver on my Victorinox Huntsman, or the four-way screwdriver on my keyring. And if you ever need to replace the screws, slotted (or Phillips) may be easier to find in the size you need.

Here's a 2010 thread where it was discussed:

And a pic:

I have extras, so if you want a set, let me know and I'll get them ready and sent to you. It'll take a few days though, we're kind of busy here right now.

You know whats crazy, I have never heard of fastenal before this thread. I just checked out their website and it looks pretty nice. I used their store locator and there is one 5 blocks down the street I live on. I'm going to have to check this out.

I just buy the 3/4" long ones at Lowes/HD/Orchard, and cut 'em to length after installing my liners.

I've ordered from McMaster but they tend to kill me with shipping.
I recently discovered a Fastenal less than a mile from work, and Grainger's only about 5 miles away. But sometimes they make you get a huge box.

I've found that the 10-24 3/4" ones work just fine with the factory plastic handles with out shortening. The tips of the bolts stop just short of sticking out beyond the holes.

If you put split washers under the screws that will make them sit further down on the scale holes.
