Went sockeye fising in Babine lake on the weekend. Weather was good except for the wind which made the water a little "bumpy" at times!
We caught 8 salmon and three rainbows so my girlfriend's "Birthday Knife" got a good work out!:)

right on Bruce... great pics man.. you gotta love a women who can fish...:D my wife will fish all day...

Man, that looks so cool!! May I ask what knife it is? Being in Africa ...fishing is crap inland and I am way to stupid to catch anything in the sea. Guess the green always looks greener on the other side ;-)

Great pics and great fish. That's my dream, to someday fish salmon in Alaska.

Aubrey: Do you do any hunting down there in South Africa? Here is a link to the thread with more details on the knife:

Yea, it was a good trip. The landing at the boat launch was packed with 7-8 campers, so we loaded the tent and other gear into the boat and camped out on our own private beach a few kilometers down the lake. The dogs were happy too since they didn't have to be tied up.

comoha: if the fishing in Alaska is anything like BC (and I imagine it is :)) you won't regret it - it can be awesome when you hit a good run!

Niiiiice! I mean... those are some nice looking sockeye!

She fishes AND drives?! You are one lucky man Bruce.

I'm so jealous! I missed a whole summer of fishing this year, but at least we have a trip planned for labor day...

Thank's for sharing the picture's, Salmon Is some Good Eaten Fish ! Grilled or Smoked, But Smoked Salmon Is my Favorite, Nice Fish "Look's like you and the Miss's had a Great time" And that Lake Is Beautiful,

Beautiful spot and beautiful fish! You got yourself a "keeper" there dude, and I don't mean the fish. Did you cook them while you camped? If so, how?

Those fish sure look tasty, I wish we had fishing like that around here!

I'll give you my address and you can overnight one to me:)

She is a Keeper

Thanks guys! I'm pretty lucky. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while:)

Fishshooter: We caught 3 rainbows (15-18") and cooked one of them on the barbaque. The cooking surface is ~1' x 2' and the whole thing is ~1' deep - it takes those little 1lb propane bottles. Its a nice little BBQ for camping trips. We seasoned up the fish with spices, then wrapped it in aluminum foil, followed by 20min on the grill. I have cooked them in foil over a fire too - works better double wrapped and flip it often to avoid burning!

Bruce - Looks like an awesome trip, thanks for sharing. As others have pointed out your'e very lucky to have a lady who enjoys the outdoors with you.
