I buy socks at Cosco: Kirkland Signature™ Men's Athletic Sock 6-Pack White, $9.99.

They are really nice: thick, stretchy, cushion soles, durable and comfortable. 71% cotton, 25% polyester, 3% nylon, 1% spandex. Any color you want, as long as it's white. That is the problem.

One of wife's friends told her I would wear a T-shirt to a wedding. Not true! I wear a Henley to weddings, and to go with the Henley I would like some athletic socks in grey, navy blue or black. Any suggestions?

OHHHHhhhhhh K
I'll bite

"My sock" is the Diastar Comfy Feet Diabetic Socks. These socks wear out fast, fit kind of loose, some times are too baggy in the toes (ironically only the ones they tried to make again in the USA) and tend to get sock lint all over the damed place . . .
why do I like them then you might ask ? . . .

I'm not diabetic but am very active, ride my bike to work etc. They are very wonderful for my circulation ! I really notice a difference : My feet stay warmer during those single digit to bellow zero rides (hey it's Colorado near "purple mountain's majesty" (( yah the one she wrote the song about)) so it's like that half the year. The socks are pretty thick and very fuzzy inside so are warm and quite comfortable. They layer easily for those sub zero days because they stretch so well. The tops are so extra stretchy you can poke your trousers into them to keep them out of the gears if you don't have trouser bands and they still don't cut off your circulation !

I've bought scads of 'em and will buy a lot more. Come in black ! I wear mostly black . . . but have some white ones . . . you know . . . for weddings. :D

Here's a quote . . . (I said it once) : "I don't cry at weddings but I cry at marathons. People put way more forethought, time and effort into running a marathon."

I like Snugkak's military boot sock. I also like the UA boot socks and their crew socks are good as well.

Smartwool. 365 days/year. Select by height, thickness, style, color , country of origin. After the socks you may move on to other items in their line…just bought another 6 pair.

If you want cheap "uniform" socks in black, the Men's department at Wal-Mart will hook you up. Not as cheap as Costco/Sam's but, close enough for special occasions.

Darn tough are nice. Try Wigwam King Cotton in Black, I think that is exactly what you are looking for, and at a palatable price.

I would also throw in Fox River because I haven;t seen it put up yet.

Avoid synthetics, and anyone who says cotton is a poor sock material (I am looking at you REI salesfolk) doesn't know jack.

I wear wool everyday. I walk all day for work. I usually wear Gander mountain Ultimate. Plus they have a lifetime guarantee!! :D

I wear wool pretty much year-round, except when wearing tennis shoes. Wool doesn't bunch up or get sopping, and it maintains cushion even when wet.

"Omni-Wool" socks that come in a 3-pack from Sams Club are cheap and last years. And because they're merino wool, they don't itch so they don't need liner socks.

Some lighter less-bulky Merino wool socks would be good for more formal dress shoes.

For hiking I wear the thickest wool pairs I can find, with a polypro liner.

With sneakers, it's white socks only. So they can be washed with bleach.

Darn Tough marino wool for me. My cotton socks are all either unused or gone. They are better when it's cool/cold out and MUCH better when it's warm. Cotton socks hold foot sweat and cause blisters.

I spend all day on my feet and put in some miles in a day. Merino wool everyday for me too. I like lorpen brand myself.
