Which would you choose? I don't have either in person to decide.

Socom Delta w/ Satin ats34 blade and aluminum handles

Or

Socom Delta w/ stone washed s30v blade and G10 handles

I hope I'm not starting to become a steel snob. Basically I know nothing about ats34 and I'm not sure if that should impact my decision. Also I am not sure if the aluminum on the deltas is as soft as it was on the elites.

Make sure you're good with owning a tip-up-carry only knife with a weak detent because the detents on these are weeeeeeeak.

I have aluminum handles and my detent isn't weak at all.

My blade is ATS-34 and it's the first "high end" knife I have. It is very sharp and so far has stayed that way. I don't know how it compares to s30v though.

Yeah he's referring to some of the older Elites. Some of those have shockingly weak detents. I'm kinda curious about peoples felling on the stonewashed finish. From what I can see online, it looks a little strange online and the pattern of stone wash doesn't seem like it would really even hide any scratches, but its REALLY hard to judge a knife by looking at pics online.

Nah, I'm referring to SOCOM Deltas, G10 handles, S30V blades. I had two of them, both with very weak detents. Only an N=2 here, but I've read similar complaints. Perhaps they are hit or miss. I sure wish I had one with a strong detent because it would easily be one of my top 3 favorite knives.

My vote definitely goes to the stonewashed S30V with g10. S30v is a superior steel in my opinion and I also prefer stonewash finishes and G10 scales, but those are really just personal preferences.
