Socom Elite, Best Microtech Yet?

So I am a big fan of Microtech when it comes to the higher end production knives, but I am very diverse an like many brands. This brand was the first knife over $100 I bought though and it just means something special to me. I only have one now at the moment and hopefully will get a second one sometime so I would not feel bad about using this one (Yes it is a collection piece at the moment). I just really like my Microtech Socom Elite and when it comes down to it I feel like it or the Ultratech is the best knife ever. What Microtech is your favorite? Mine is the Socom which I like more than the Delta even though they are similar. I also like how it came with a sheath and I was disappointed when Microtech stopped doing that.

This is just me expressing my opinion and asking yours, not a thread about what production knife company is better or about any scandals of Microtech and .....(ZT) lol we all know what company why hide it.

My story is similar to yours regarding first expensive knife purchased, the Socom Elite. I can add no more as I own no others. I have spent much more on folders and fixed blades, but no more Micro tech. I feel like I have the best one they ever made.

I've owned lots and lots of knives, both more and less expensive than the Socom Elite and it still rates as one of the top knives I've owned. To look at it on paper doesn't really do anything for me but in hand it's impressive. I mean, I don't even really like tip down carry. Every now and then there comes a knife that is just right, the Socom Elite is one of them.

LCC (D/A) and Socom (D/A) were some of the best MT folders ever.

For me I have to break it down into categories. Fixed, folder and OTF. My favorites of each are the currahee, whaleshark and Scarab. But the ONLY reason the folder is a whaleshark is because they have not made a socom flipper yet.

I LOVE my Socom Elite. If I were forced to sell my knives, that'd be one of the last ones I could let go of.

I loved my original Socom M/A, and was a big fan on the LLC. I'd like to find a clip point plain blade Elite but I just won't pay the secondary markup for one. I picked up a G10 Delta a while ago because I prefer non-metal handles these days, but it had a horrible lock and gritty pivot, lock would fail with just spine pressure, no impact needed. That was ~8 weeks ago, and it sounds like it's on it's way back after going to Microtech so we'll see what comes out of the box. I can't say I was impressed about having to send $15 in to get warranty service or with the turn around time, or the first two status updates I requested after 6 weeks that were never returned. I've dealt with a few other companies (BM, Spartan, ZT) and never had it take half that long to get a knife back from warranty, or been charged for the privilege of it, hopefully it was worth the effort/wait.

I just picked-up a socom delta (plain edge, black coated tanto, cpm-d2), and while it has only been a few days, I can say that I am really, really impressed by it. The f&f is perfect, smooth action, fits my hand perfectly, no problem with the aluminum scales... in short, I want this in my pocket all the time. I've had/have ZT's, Striders, Spyderco's, BM's, etc... and while many of those were very fine knives and stout performers, the delta seems perfect for me. Time will tell if impressions change--but so far, very, very good.

I DO BELIVE that Socom and Socom Elite were some of the best Microtech folders, even regardless QC issues they had recently.

It's a shame they finally decided to stop the production. But it makes our knives even more valuable :D

Hi, i am a big fan of near all Microtech Knives!
I think the Socom Elite has all the necessary attributes a EDC/EDU should have.
