I am just curious how many of you out there carry a SOCOM Elite. What type is yours? Mine is part serrated and Anopeen. Have you put it to the test? How did it stand up. What are your likes and dislikes of this knife. I wish it had a reversable clip. I rotate mine with a Custom Elishewitz, which is going in for repairs, so I guess it will be my EDC for a while.

I have the lg. pl. edge, serial# 1174, born on 6/2000. It cuts ok, but I really think the thicker grind on this blade was intended to cut flesh more than utility chore type items like cardboard, wood, paper and so on.
Very comfortable to hold, Microbar locks up solidly.
No blade play in any direction and it laughs at the spine whack test.
Fit and finish is tighter than a gnat's ass.

I can't think of anything I'd trade it for in the way of knives.
Except maybe an Ed Fowler Pronghorn.:p

I have three Microtechs and I am very pleased with all of them. I doubt any of them will ever be for sale.:D

I have the manual and the auto. The manual is the original blade grind in anopeen and the auto is stonewash with the new blade grind.
The thinner(new) blade grind is better at cutting than the original grind, but the original is better looking.
I haven't had any problems with either knife as far as lockup is concerned. I have read some negative things about the microbar but haven't experienced any problems first hand. I alternate these knives as my daily carry and use them often. I have also read about some problems people have firing the auto, the button is too recessed. When I first got the knife it was a little awkward compard to some other MT button releases, but after awhile I just got used to it.
My favorite SOCOM is the DA that I have. It's only draw back is the tanto. I don't find that shape as useful as a tool. The grind on the DA is a thing of beauty though.
Overall great knives, well worth the money.

I have both a MA and auto version. . .Pre-production Brend #1 grind with a anopeen finish. Awesome knives but have yet to get around to carry them (too many knives in the rotation at this time).

Only draw back is the raised area around the release button (on the auto). But I can hang ! :D

I have both the original(Brend) grind in Anopeen finish and the new grind in stone wash finish, both in plain edge.

The new grind, stone wash is in my regular, daily carry rotation. I absolutely find this knife to be completely dependable. It will be coming with me on an upcoming backpacking trip, where it will have numerous daily vital functions.

Neither has had any lock-failure probs in spite of many, varied challenges.

You are in good hands.:)

SOCOM Elite-M; plain; black

A trustworthy lock, very ergonomic handle design, razor sharp out of the box and although no blade play at all (someone have named this “fixed blade feeling”) it only needs a slight movement with the wrist to open the blade.

In my opinion, because of the thick blade, more suited for self defense than for cutting tasks.

My favourite folder, perfect workmanship and great design!

hd a mini socom signature edition tanto black combo edge, for about a week, and ended up trading it for a crawford custom ti kasper (well along w/another knife and $$ anyway) but i liked it, prob will get another, a socom this time, the mini was smaller than i expected....

Carried mine for awhile and am really fond of it. Had both the old and new style grinds but for some reason always preferred the old style anopeen blade and sold the other. The Elite used to drive my co-workers nuts with the sound of the blade snapping open from my cubicle when i was bored ;)

However, it was too "tac" for use in an office with lots of knife-haters around, so I got a mini Socom for office carry.
