Well, I have had trouble finding faults with most of the microtechs I've owned, however I have encountered a slight issue with my new socom elite's glass breaker. When I finally got the knife I was surprised to see that the glass breaker wasn't one solid point, but a metal housing with what looked like a ball bearing imbeded in it. Anyway, I was messing with it last night, smacking it into a stack of magazines and this morning I noticed that the "ball" was not still in the metal housing. I looked through the pages of the magazine but couldn't find it. I probable only hit the magazine 3 times, so this is surprising to me. I can't say that it wouldn't of worked on a window with the initial hit, but it's a disappointment to me. I'm sure I could send it in for repairs, but probably wont as it's not an real important feature to me. I do wish I could take off the remaining part though, but it doesn't look like it comes off easily.
Just wanted to throw this out there, as I've often spoken of microtech as pretty much perfect knives. -I still really like this knife, by the way.

Bummer my 98 SOCOM is what I judge knives buy as for build quality. MOD and the Beretta Avenger I just picked up are on a par with the MT build quality. My 710 is also. I would send it back just to make the knife complete so to speak, but then again I hate sending knives back for something that would probably never be used by me. keepem sharp

Well, I managed to remove what was left of the glass breaker. It was surprisingly easy, as all I had to do was loosen the handle screws a bit and then slip the part out. This is a well made knife. Now I only wish it was tip up carriable.
