sod busters

Can't go wrong with a yeller Case. The Sodbuster Jr. is available in CV or Tru Sharp and can be had for well below your limit.

The Queen Country Cousin Sodbusters in D2 are great - though make sure you have a diamond hone to put an edge on them to begin with.

The brown mule sodbusters from Kissing Krane. Used to be made in Germany, but now made in Italy, and I have a late Italian one that's nicer than the German ones. Wood handle and carbon steel blade, very old school traditional. Less than 20 bucks for the big size.

Case is sort of the standard bearer in this knife. I've had the same yellow Case CV for about 20 years now, and it's held up great.

I wish Case still made the large CV sodbuster. Do you think they will ever bring it back out in yellow?

I've been looking at the Eye Brand Sodbuster with the saw blade. Does anyone have one? If so could you tell me about it please.

Queen can be had for around $25.00, and Rough Rider makes a pretty good one, too, for about half that.

Got my Sodbuster at bLowes for $17. It's my main everyday edc cutter and saves my fixed blade which I also edc from dulling on tape and cardboard. The Sodbuster alternates from time to time with a Queen Gunstock in D2. The D2 is tough.

if you can find the older eye soddie you will have a king cutter. i,ve had several in the beautifal lemon meringe celluloid & never had off-gassing in that handle. also the twin blade eye with the saw is a tough though large knife, saw a buddie drive his twin soddie blade thru a mule deer pelvis with a rock--unbelieveable abuse but the knive survived.

Böker Argentina do a yellow Sod in carbon, I think large and medium. It's a bit coarse compared to a CASE but an honest worker and tough nevertheless. Cheaper than CASE and its carbon touches up nicely.

I've also got this German Bull in really good stag. Only problem is...the stainless steel seems poor on this one, hard and difficult to get a decent edge on it.
