As I was reading our friend jackknife's latest thread this morning I thought of how often he has extolled the virtues of the simple sodbuster and the peanut. As my only peanut was a gift from a good friend on this forum, (Thomason, you know who you are...
), I thought it might be nice to pass on a sodbuster to a deserving forum member.
As many of you know, the sodbuster is one of the older slipjoint patterns with a great deal of European and U.S. history behind it.
In reading "Lonesome Dove" I often pictured Gus McRae carrying a sodbuster when mention was made of his large clasp knife. If it was good enough for the likes of ol' Gus and our bud, jackknife, it's good enough for us I should think.
Anyway, the knife being offered is a 4.5" Boker Arbolito with yellow handles and carbon steel blade.
All you need to do to qualify is post in this thread and be a regular contributor on this forum. (Those who visit the forum simply for the giveaways will not be selected.)
I'll figure out some means of selecting the lucky winner in concert with my best bud Smoky (the Weimaraner) sometime in the next few days.
Woof and Good luck!
