I can't remember who it was or when it was but a couple of years ago a member posted picks of his sodbuster and he had dropped the tip a little to give it a slightly more spear point contour. after some thought i tried it on my small cv and loved it, so much in fact that i went ahead and performed the surgery on my large soddy. i'll even go so far as to say i will never own another sodbuster without this mod. if you haven't tried it, it's easy and handy. but to the unkown forumite, thanks for sharing a great idea.
sodbusters rule.

I did that to mine. I posted pics, but I wasn't the originator. Give me a few and I'll find out.

Moving over to "Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment Forum".

I'm sorry for posting in the wrong section Blues, thanks for the move. I'm stuck at work so it'll be a couple of days but i'll get some pics. Morablades seems like i've seen some pics of your handle mods and you do a really nice job, i thought about trying it once but weenied out at the last minute. I'll try anything with steel but delrin scares me. btw morablades your forum foo is strong that didn't take long.

I gave mine just a little clip:

The tip is more useful for me since it now has more of a point. All the soddies I have came with really rounded tips.

ever try their own jigging or texturing the handle on a soddie? also could the delrin be dyed? just a thought, i love my yeller soddie but i might pick one up in the future to tinker with, look out finger grooves and subpar jigging here i come:D;)

How do you guys do that if all you have is knife sharpening stones. Do you need a grinder, or file, or what?

It's really easy to do. I have jigged, finger grooved and scalloped mine all with a dremel. When you buff the delrin when finished you have to take your time. Delrin will move and melt very quickly when too hot.

Do you use a stone in the Dremel and then shave it off a little at a time?

I take a cutting wheel on the dremel. Draw a straight line on the blade, start cutting, while dipping the blade in cool water every 2-4 seconds so as to not ruin the temper.

for dropping the point i prefer the white trash method which involves an angle grinder, a flapper wheel, and a bowl of water. the key when using any kind of grinder/sander with tempered steel is to go slow and keep it cool.
btw a dremel is definitely the better way to go but mine died and hasn't been replaced yet.

anybody have picts of the handle mods cause you guys got me thinking and that usually involves me dropping some cash:cool::D
Fortunately a new soddie isnt a terribly expensive investment:)
would love to see some handle mods
cheers
