would like to see a pic of each if possible. need something that will go horizontal and protect the knife while positively securing it. will be used on a 1/4" thick gunbelt that is 1.5 inch wide.

thanks

The SOE sheath does not work horz.
The Kydex looks as if it will rotate to any position.

aha! So no horizontal. bummer. I wanted something like that.

thks

I got one from Triple Aught Design that is horizontal, and it works great!! The loops are adjustable on the back via velcro, and I carry my AR in it.It is a very heavy duty sheath, and should last very well.
I was at the Reno Gun Show, and TAD was there, and I talked to Josh, and he says they sell for $15.
I have no pics, but if you go to their website they have them listed on there.
Hope this helps.

Mick, I am just concerned the kydex might not be as secure as a pouch. The kydex pic I got a look at seemed to not hold more than 25% of the knife. That may not have been yours however.

is thier a link to yours? I have an AR coming, and need a home for it!

L.O. I wrote him about that sheath he is using from TADgear. I'm still waiting his return email. will let you know!

He e-mailed me a link from the TAD website of a pic of the sheath I am talking about. I returned his e-mail telling him it is the right link, and explaining how well it works, for me anyway.
Also I forgot to mention the sheath is verical/horizontal with velcro flap. The ones Strider, and other dealers are selling are the Eagle brand I think, but anyway they have a clip rather than velcro. My wife(LEO) carries that one on her uniform as it is quieter to get the knife out in a situation that might require it, and the velcro is of course more noisy when opening.
Depends on what works best for your environment.
Hope this helps.

I have been carrying my AR in the sheath from TAD for almost a month now, and it fits very well. The box shape of the sheath when it expands for the knife goes in fits perfect, and the pivot end of the knife sticks out about 1", and then the long flap folds over, and fits snug, but still comes out easy when you lift the flap. I thought the knife would be too big for it at first also, but when it slid in easily, and came out easily, I went "far out". After a couple of days of wearing the flap just naturally forms to the length of the knife, and has a nice bend in the flap to conform to it.
