It's been time to sharpen my SOFCK for quite awhile now. I've given it a whirl with a DMT
alingner, but the results have been poor. My particular knife even thought the blade technically is not chisel ground, the right side of the blade has been ground VERY little, looks like it was just to take off the BlackT. So in effect it's chisel ground.
Anyway, tried sharpening like my CQC tantos, and all that happened was the edge rolled. Then I tried to sharpen is as a conventional grind, but it seems that I would have take off too much steel to get it where it needs to go. What am I doing erong? Thanks

When I first started out sharpening animals like the Commander, I found that when I had radical edge roll as the result, I was using too much pressure.

You might want to go to a finer hone and use less pressure. A few strokes then run your index fingernail for the burr and stroke it on leather to take it off.

With modern hones, they never cease to amaze me at the amount of steel they take off, quickly.
