Soft open / close scout knife.

You may have set the pins too tightly when you peened them. Are you saying that it takes less pull and push to open and close the blades or that the "snap" is gone/reduced?

I don’t think pivot is too tight? it’s more like the spring tention is not correct.
I took a bunch of pictures while disassembling and I’m pretty sure I put it back together the same way haha. I’ve tried the other positions the springs could go in too, and the main blade always seems “loose” no real blade play, just like it’s too easy to open and close..
I’d like it to take a little more effort to open and close.
Thanks for your guidance.

Hmm, did you polish on the springs at all? Not sure why that would happen. Are they still flush when the knife is closed and open? Maybe you could take it apart again and try pre-bending them in the tighter direction before reassembly.

I did clean them up a little, but did consider the ramifications while doing so. Didn’t sand or file, but there was some old oil etc that I cleaned up.

So bending and manipulating the spring is an acceptable method? I was wondering how much manipulation the spring would take. It’s not a real expensive knife or anything, just getting some experience here. Thanks

Yep, that will provide a little extra tension. Don't go crazy, just maybe bend so the contact end is 1/16" lower and try that.
