Question:
I would like to take some of the edge off the Jimping of my Zero Tolerance 560BW. My finger is getting a bit raw from flicking the knife open as the jimping has such a rough edge to it compared my other knives. I have a dremal, what would you recommend I soften the knife with? My main concern is there are 3 materials at play where the jimping is, G10, Aluminum and Titanium, I want to make sure I use the right tool and not chip/damage the materials. Before you call me a sissy...the jimping does not need to be that rough to get a purchase w/ your thumb, it would make the knife a lot more pleasant to handle were it less edgy.
Thanks!

Take the knife apart of leave it together. Whichever you prefer and use some 800 grit sandpaper on all the edges that bother you. That is what I did and it worked perfect. You can use it wet afterwards and you wont even notice the work. It will blend rite in. I did take it apart to do so on the hotspots that I had. Not too much though.

SHOOT, BTW mine is a 0561 so the finish was not effected. Im not sure if the blackwash would look different afterwards.

BTW, what is aluminum. I thought the liner under the g-10 is titanium as well?

Same thing happened to my finger. I went at it assembled. Used some microfiles I got a hobby store and finished it off with some 600 grit. Much better now.

This is exactly the reason I have owned and sold 4 zt 0560/561's. The jimping around the knife didnt bother me for day to day use, but the first time I got down to business with some heavy cutting, it destroyed my hand, and I have tough hands. I kept buying and selling the things but i just couldnt get past it. I will not buy another. I could have smoothed out the jimping with some sand paper, but with all the other great knives out there, I didnt like it enough to take the time.

Its an aggressive knife for an aggressive man! :p
Others can opt for the 0801

I took my dremal to it and the jimping is a tad softer now. I still get a firm purchase but now the skin of my thumb when holding it or my finger when deploying is not shredding (yes im exaggerating). So ya, it feels better in the hand now. It feels more like my ZT 300 now if that gives you an idea of how much of the edge I took off...which means not very much but just enough.

I actually really like the jimping on my 0560BW. It's not too sharp , but not so soft that I thought "why did they even bother jimping?"...
