I'm assuming I'm not alone on this and I've only been around a few years but Operation Two Weeks put a hurting on the resale market. Man, you practically have to give a blade away right now to move one, it's pretty crazy. I was hoping to turn a couple blades into cash to purchase another firearm a couple weeks ago and that didn't exactly go as planned. I wonder if the market will improve now that the current Operation has been postponed to after Blade? Any thoughts?

Busse knives used to be easy to sell and recoup your cost plus shipping to the new owner. It's more common to take a loss now. Prior to O2W, demand exceeded supply. Lately, supply is super high and everyone blows their budget buying direct from Busse

The market for high end Busse's is super soft. Also, any time a battle grade version of an infi blade comes out, it hurts the value on the old infi. It's harder to sell an infi AK-47 for example. It's awesome for everyone buying new, but difficult for the used market

Well, the market is always correct. It's a good time to pick up some normally out of reach knives. I myself like grabbing them without the sales tax and shipping.

This. I picked up a NMFBM for a good 25% less than what it was a few months ago. Part of it was a buddy hooked me up and the other part was market for sure. Good time to have cash no doubt

If you think it's low now, wait until the mystery grab bags start shipping.

Got to be a hard time to be a flipper.

You're right. There's gonna be a flood of blades that people got at a discount that they don't want. Glad I'm not flipping. Liu Kang sure seems to have a massive high end inventory though

I've taken a loss on most of the blades that I've bought to try. If I don't end up liking a blade or need cash, I try for a quick sale. Otherwise it'll just sit until closer to the BB13 release that is............

I must learn patience..... I'm bad at patience

market always up and down. Depends on model. highest prices i have ever seen for sar4, hg55, few other models. just depends

I agree with most, and not sure if it bounce back now that O2W is on pause.
Offcourse it also depends what Ur selling lol Throw a SARsquatch on the Exchange and see what happens lol or anything in my signature

Agree with all of the above. It's definitely changed my mindset a little when it comes to purchasing. Before recently, I was willing to buy a little more freely because I knew if I didn't like it, it would be easy to get my money back. Now, not so much.

It makes it hard if you're like me, sitting on a Lot of knives, that may not get used. And cash poor with a Lot of knives on backorder.

I'm not a re-seller (I just can't let myself part with the acquisitions that I've made) but this has to be a good thing for those that do in the long run. Before I was a member of the forums, I saw Busse at Knob Creek, and picked up a Scrapper 5. This is admittedly a lower priced Busse, but then I'd had my taste, and the rest was history.

Like most newcomers, there was a time where I thought that knives were just knives, and after a certain price point, you were paying for accoutrements that were largely unnecessary. (I was wrong.) The more high-quality blades that the crew can get into the hands of the uninitiated, the more long term demand that they can command. There are no such thing as too many enthusiasts, and this benefits everyone in the knife community, again, in the long run.

Lets be glad that we're introducing new Hogs to the Trough! Bacon and Bourbon for all!

In this case the market is not without direct influence. The reason why there even was a secondary market was because there was a demand for items right away. These items included both user and safe queen discontinued items, current production items, custom shop items/variants, and items with 3rd party mods/enhancements.

Once production capacities are raised and once rate of production increases --- it begins to slowly erode certain segments of the secondary market because supply is beginning to level off with demand.

Also, certain rare/special knives have lost their allure. The reason for this is that new and recent knives have emerged in plentiful supply that rival/surpass the aesthetic AND performance value of previous rare/special models.

Any secondary market activity --- is in some ways -- a lost financial opportunity for the company. Ramp up production, ramp up variety of designs based on aesthetics and performance --- and you get to capitalize on a segment of the market that was being previously supplied by the secondary market

I think op2wks was a necessity because on the exchange you might wait months or years to get the blade you wanted. lots of people wanted them and if you took 5 minutes to think about it, someone else jumped on it. Also really good deals are rare if your not sitting in front of your computer with your finger on the f5 key. before op2wks thousands of dollars a day were getting exchanged and none of it was going to busse.

It is softer but I think there are a lot more active members then there were a year ago. I know the Busse sickness has definitely spread here around Indy.

I bet there'll be op2w knives at BladeShow and that'll help pull in even more new customers. Then some of them will end up in here and buying more.

When I look at it I think about the whole time I've been around. Before I ever got my first I had two friends snag a HHFSH, NMFBM and FFBM at excellent prices. Then my first, a CGFBM with CBT I paid $490 and I even waited a few days to snag it. Now all of those knives would sell for more and sell quickly.

Ebb & flow, ebb & flow.
Blade coming up and O2W, what do ya expect?
May has never really been a good time to sell, unless you plan to cut sweet deals.
However, as it's always been, blades no longer available will attract new folks, and they will want them. I, as a heavy buyer am still ordering, but less...and I don't think I'm alone. So, less available, wanted by more usually will cause a correction and stabilize things sometime after Blade.
After 10 years, one thing I know. INFI sells, because INFI performs.

If and When O2W ends The exchange will become a very popular place once again-Most of the people interested in Busse are buying their knives NEW and direct from Busse right now with the color options they prefer. A lot of Money is being spent on newer models (which was previously being spent on the exchange) and consequently the older models are not in High demand! Put a rare hard to find knife up there-Sarsquatch or TGLB in competition finish in mint condition (or Busse Nuclear EDC-which lasted about 15 minutes)-It will still sell-Cheers
