Can anyone tell me the names of the 1st gen sog folders- the ones with those massive locks. There was the tomcat but I thought there was one other?
Also were these folders and their locks strong and durable?

DrDeath:

SOG Knives with the "massive locks" (aka: 'Negative-Draft Locking Bar System') in the years 1988 to 1991: Tomcat; Stingray; Sogwinder I & II.

Also, there was the SOG Team Leader - a massive SOG folding knife with the "massive lock". However, I have no idea when that knife made it's debut.

By the way, I have a 1st gen Tomcat (S.M. CA.) that I use on at least a weekly basis that has been use to do whatever knives are supposed to do and it is still very strong. The durability is great. Takes a good edge, too!

Here are some of those first gen folders. Team Leader, Tomcat, Sogwinder and Stingray.

Not to resurrect an old thread, but what steel is the Sog Stingray made out of? The original one, of course. Not the 2.0

Hrm.. Yeah, I'm getting mixed answers. Some say 440A, some say 440C and others say AUS6. I tried asking SOG via Facebook but no avail.

Yep...I know the feeling you get when trying to get intel on SOG products.

Best to you on your search,
